It's a kids toy The box says a range of up to 4 miles in optimal conditions. I would say optimal conditions would be an open field. So we tried it in an open field and we couldn't even get half a mile of range. At 0.3 miles it started breaking up and at 0.4 nothing. And between buildings we got 200 yards at max.I wasn't expecting 4 miles, but not even 10% of that is ridiculous.It could be a great toy for kids to radio the neighbors' house across the street... 08/22/2011
