About this item
Includes: "Miracle in the Woods": Wanda (Patricia Heaton) and Sarah (Meredith Baxter) are estranged sisters at odds over what to do with a pecan grove they have inherited following their mother's death. Wanda wants to keep the land in the family while Sarah, who is hiding a devastating secret, wants desperately to sell. They are startled to discover an elderly woman, Lilly (Della Reese), living on the property, and claiming it as her own. Against her mother's wishes, Sarah's rebellious teenage daughter, Gina (Anna Chlumsky), befriends the delusional Lilly, who mistakes Gina for a figure from her past. Gina is touched by Lilly's heartbreaking life story, and becomes determined to find her long-lost son. "Miracle of the Spring": Based on Ann Patchett's acclaimed book, "The Patron Saint of Liars" is the moving story of Rose (Dana Delany), a desperate expectant woman who leaves her husband and takes refuge in a shelter for unwed pregnant women. Befriended by the compassionate Sister Evangeline (Emmy-winner Sada Thompson), Rose begins a new life, raising her daughter and falling in love with the shelter's handyman, Son (Clancy Brown). But when Rose's first husband finally tracks her down, Rose must make the agonizing decision whether to flee her past once again. "Sacagawea": She was an expectant mother, but she endured every hardship these seasoned soldiers experienced. Without her, the Corps of Discovery would have failed. This program re-enacts her journey in her own words. Taken captive as a child during a raid, adopted into the tribe of her captors, and then married off, her adventures have only just begun. After Lewis & Clark journey to her village on assignment from President Jefferson, Sacagawea joins the expedition in seeking a northwest passage to the sea. Digging up edible roots and negotiating for horses, she saves the Corps of Discovery, time and time again. "The Rivers Run": This Australian adventure, taking place at the turn of the century, is set into action when a charming American, Cyrus James (Parker Stevenson), encounters the Philadelphia Riverboat. Cyrus quickly befriends the skipper, Brenton Edwards (John Waters of "Breaker Morant"), and his family, who find enjoyment through working the river. But, when Brenton is unjustly sent to prison, Cyrus and the Edwards family must do all they can to survive. Issues of morality and lessons in life are weaved into an exciting plot that has as many twists and turns as the river itself.
