Rated 4 out of 5 by LL42 Great accuracy - good varmint load
All older 22 mag barrels are rifled around the classic 40gr bullet, so these tend to be more accurate in more guns than the tricky new bullet weight stuff. This Winchester load has a true jacketed soft point hollow tipped bullet; not just electroplated. This bullet expands very quick so it has poor penetration but great stopping power on small/ midsize varmints. Will be too destructive for like pot shooting squirrels. Go with FMJs for them. The 40gr CCI hollow point (in contradistinction) provides more controled expansion if using in a survival situation where you may have to stretch this round to kill deer sized animals. But the Winchester HP is the best round for 90% of my shooting. It is not the cleanest burning round, but the fouling protects barrel from rust well in the field.

Used this in my Ruger mk II target pistol. The ammo is very dirty, after 100 rounds had to clean the barrel. All the ammo did however fire and cycle properly so i guess that's a plus.
