My cats are absolutely in love with Purrfectly Chicken as well as Purrfectly Fish. The only thing I wish is that my fingers would rip the envelope faster so they can eat. Of course if you had a bigger box it could last a little bit longer with multiple cats. Right now I have to use it as a reward for being good kitties. I think they like it better than catnip too. No kidding. Maybe we could get boxes that only have one flavor in each box too. I have some kitties that can only eat chicken and not duck or beef added so that would be my suggestion. Please do not raise your prices please.

Not clear to me from directions on pouch how much to feed an 8 lb cat--would it be 1 1/2 pouches 2x a day or 1 1/2 pouch total for the day? Directions say 1 pouch per 5lb, 2x a day. If 1 1/2 pouches 2x a day this is pretty pricey cat food . fcd

  • 1.2 oz. per every lb. of your cat. So a 5 lb cat can have 6 oz. which is 2 pouches. (each pouch is 3 oz.) So your 8 lb cat can have 9.6 oz. per day or 4.8 oz 2 x's a day. ( or roughly 3 pouches every day)

  • These things vary depending upon your cat's size, health and activity level. But for an 8 lb. cat, 3 pouches a day sounds excessive compared to my experience. However I also leave kibble freely available, although my cats don't seem to eat all that much kibble in a given day. Between two cats, a young one and an old one (18 years) with hyperthyroidism, I feed two pouches of this product daily, and additionally either some Newman's Own pate cat food, or some home made plain chicken or beef etc. Generally my cats don't consume all of their food. So I would say for your 8 lb. cat, maybe try one pouch in the morning and one at night, and see if the cat eats all of it and otherwise does't start losing weight. People are in disagreement re the issue of leaving kibble freely available, but I think it's a good idea. I've had all sorts of animals and even did wildlife rescue in my youth, and my pets always live to ripe old age, and I have never had a problem with them over-eating by leaving out kibble. I think it provides the pet with a psychological comfort, so they aren't in a state of concern if you happen to be late coming home from work or whatever. If you otherwise clearly establish yourself as the Alpha in the household, I don't see any other such problems developing from leaving kibble freely available; I've certainly never had any problems from doing so. But of course you have to judge this based upon your own situation such as your pet, your home environment, etc. I definitely don't suggest leaving kibble outdoors, as it attracts pests and wildlife that could potentially harm your cat.
