I am a novice knife thrower but do collect knives and have bought a few sets of throwers since i've started throwing. When it comes to the blade all that matters with throwers is the point and these whestone's have a great point. First throw stuck right in. From then on these became my favorite. I should mention that the thread on the handle comes off very easily and that you should either lather in super glue right away or just take them off like i did. They still have great balance without the threads. This set has taken a pounding bouncing off cinder block walls landing on the cement basement floor and the tip is still in great condition. You really should buy these for a starter set because you cannot beat the price anywhere. Other websites have ridiculous shipping charges making this a 15dollar item easily. IF they even carry these. Good balance, weight and thickness so they don't bend easily. I guess I wasn't expecting much at this price but I am really pleased. Keep in mind that they are about 6 inches which makes them great for practicing in the garage or basement using safety of course. You will find a lot of throwing knives are about 6 inches and that's a great starter size, you have to get your technique down before throwing the big boys.

The knives were well weighted giving you the option to put a spin on the throw or to just throw them straight in the target. They are very durable. Great deal for the price.

Throws very well but after about two hundred throws the ropes on the handles came off which was kind of disappointing other than that they've been a very nice throwing knife they are balanced pretty good

    • not really you will not cut your self on them unless you really work at it but you can sharpen them. I like the sides dull for throwing

    • Good enough sharpness, I have been throwing knives for a long time now and you do not want the sides very sharp.

    • they do have a sharp edge but not razor sharp. A very sharp edge would chip or break under the force of being thrown. So they have to have a bit of a dull edge to protect the blade yet sharp enough to stick into a target. So if you are wondering if you might accidentally cut yourself with them...it's not likely. The tip however, I would avoid. It may not be very sharp but could certainly scratch you.

    • no but you don't want throwers to be sharp on the sides because they'll be sliding out of your hand, you could sharpen them up easily though.

    • Most knives from the factory aren't very sharp. You need to buy a sharpener and do it yourself.
