  • About this item

The Weston Cereal and Multi-Grain Mill can grind corn, multi-grains, soybeans and nuts in no time. Parents only want the best for their babies, especially when it comes to the food they give them. By grinding your own grains and nuts, you can be sure of exactly what goes into your baby's meals. You won't have to obsess over which store-brought products contain preservatives, additives and other harmful artificial substances. This is where the mill comes in handy. It is made of durable cast-iron and is designed for long-term use, so even if you use it daily, it will deliver. The extra-large hopper, together with a large crank handle, allows for easy maneuvering and turning. Simply adjust the cast-iron grain mill for coarse or fine grinds using the adjustable mechanism. This heavy-duty mill attaches to any counter top in a snap with its "clamp-on-style" design.

This hand grain mill features a sturdy rubber base to help keep your counter top free of scratches. It can be disassembled for easy clean-up.

A Useful yet cheap mill to crack corn for poultry.

My husband and I constructed a wooden platform to fit over a metal 55 gallon drum to attach the mill and also to hold and stabilize a electric drill. I installed a bolt in the hand of the mill and attached it to my drill with a socket. I took an old hand held socket type screwdriver to hook to my drill in case of a jam it would spin in my drill and not break the mill. It only took me about 15 minutes to make this jig and it sits on top of my 55 gallon drum. I set my mill for the correct cracked corn size and then turned on my drill and locked it into the on position. I can now just add corn and do not have to hold the drill. Even if my drill should ever come loose it can't go anywhere or hurt anything. I took an old 5 gallon plastic bucket and cut a section out for a splatter shield. Worked excellent!!! You could also take a 5 gallon bucket and cut hole in bottom and affix it above hopper to feed into the hopper. This is an economical mill that cracks corn for chickens very well. I believe it would make good corn meal also if the corn is ran thru it a couple more times at smaller grinds. One thing though. I did let it cool off about every 10 minutes or so to prevent overheating so as not to damage it. It cools quickly so this wasn't a problem. I am able to crack 350 pounds of corn in about an hour. Very inexpensive, held up well, and worked great for my purposes.

The mill works great for my purposes. I bought it to lightly grind malted barley for brewing beer. For this, it is superb! My son used the spent grains to make dog biscuits. I saw a comment on a brewing forum that said the unit smelled like diesel fuel. When I received mine, I noticed the same odor. However, the mill's instructions tell you to disassemble and thoroughly clean with warm, soapy water before first use. I disassembled, washed and placed all pieces except for the wooden handle in a 250°F oven for 30 minutes to dry and prevent rust... worked like a charm!

I bought this in order to crack grains to steep for home brewing. It works great for this purpose. The unit did have a slight oil smell to it, so I washed everything before use, but other than that, everything else is great. I would recommend this for the home brewer who needs an easier way to crack grains at an affordable price.

    • Yes. you will have to find the right adjustment setting.

    • Yes. You have to set it to a coarse setting and you will still get a small amount of flour. If you are doing All Grain BIAB you can grind fairly fine and get great efficiency! With BIAB you don't worry about a stuck sparge.

    • Yep. This is exactly what I purchased it for and it works great. I set the spacing out a little bit and ran the grain through the hopper twice and it did a really good job.

    • You can adjust the grind on this mill and I've used it for cracking grains for beer making and it does just fine.

    • This mill would probably work perfectly for that application. (It's pretty worthless for anything else.)

    • The burrs can be set quite far apart (enough to split dry soybeans without turning them into grits, for example), so cracking dried malted barley should not be a problem. But please understand, this mill is ONLY intended for DRY ingredients. Wet beans or grains will gum it up.

    • Yes, that is exactly what I used it for and it worked just fine. It takes a while if you're doing 10-11lbs of grain but it does the job with relatively no effort.
