No more cracked eggs or problems peeling them. I get perfectly hard cooked eggs. I have not tried the poacher yet or soft boiled eggs. I wish I would have bought one a long time ago.

I replaced a 20 year old West Bend Automatic Egg Cooker. DURABILITY rating is based on my old cooker still functioning well although the non-stick surface is gone. The new one is more stylish though a little on the cute side. Can do poached or boiled egg. Some things I do not like about the new one -- the cooker does not turn off automatically on this one, its buzzer sounds off loudly begging to be turned off. The cord is not disconnectable so storage is a little more cumbersome as you have a cord permanently attached rather than one that can be removed and stored in the cover. The egg piercer - not loving it. Pierce pin is rather large and inset in the bottom of the water measure cup, the old design had the pierce pin in the boiling insert handle. Please read the instructions on the water measuring carefully as it seems incorrect at first. I viewed all the other cookers and stayed with the West Bend because of my experience with it.

A friend of mine recently moved outside of town and got some chickens. I bought a West Bend Automatic Egg Cooker for each of us. Over the past 3 months, we have both used our cookers extensively on farm-fresh eggs. We both agree these cookers are wonderful. I like to wipe the base clean after each use (so far it easily wipes as clean as new), she prefers to just leave hers alone and both cookers still work like a dream. We both agree that it is not necessary to puncture the eggs before cooking. In fact you are more likely to have broken eggs when you do. I have used the poaching cups several times. It took a time or two to figure out the exact amount of water to use to get them the way I like them. I always wipe the cups with olive oil or butter before I poach. The eggs are perfect every time and cleanup is a breeze. Not only is this is one of the handiest little gadgets I own but it also has the advantage of being a little more green than traditional boiling, as water and electricity usage are greatly reduced.

Looks good, works very well, West Bend made in the USA (a pleasant surprise). Be sure to grease the egg poachers before dropping the egg in as it sticks and leaves a mess. My large eggs did not overflow. Boiled eggs have worked every time perfectly without piercing. The numbers on the measuring cup for the water were a little confusing at first but I have it figured out now. Be careful not to stick yourself with the pin as it is on the bottom of the measuring container. I like the clear dome top, let's you see what is happening, Easy lift out using the knob on the top of the poacher. Good with the on/off switch, and the buzzer is loud enough to hear from a distance. Fast & efficient shipping from online, even though the product seems to have come from a supplier. So far an excellent product

Purchased this egg cooker years ago as it was highest-rated by Consumer Reports magazine. It's also only one recommended by America's Test Kitchen. Used it weekly ever since and still works flawlessly. Makes from 1 to 7 perfect hard or soft-boiled eggs and up to 4 perfectly poached eggs in minutes. Just add water using provided measuring device, press the on switch, and wait for the significantly loud buzzer to tell you the eggs are done. Easy and convenient! Bought this one because I'm staying at my mother's home in Florida as her caregiver and miss not having my egg cooker. It's exactly the same as mine (can't improve on perfection) and works just as flawlessly!

I was skeptical of an electric egg cooker that could poach eggs, but it is really true ... the first poached egg I tried came out perfect and the whites were not runny. The hard boiled eggs came out great. No more half done hard boiled eggs for me. Only problem I have with product is that it is difficult to get the lid off once egg(s) is/are cooked. Wish it had a handle on top to grab. It would be easier for a handicapped person to get the lid off. Still I am happy with the product.

.My mother over 60 years ago had a metal electric Automatic Egg Cooker. It cooked soft, hard boiled as well as poached eggs, it was great! I inherited it and then it finally stopped working. My family was very unhappy because it was so useful. I searched far and wide for one in a variety of stores . Finally, I went on line and saw that Wall Mart could provide one for me through direct order. Not only did I buy one for myself, but my sister and daughter. We are all very happy with our West Bend Automatic Egg Cookers. I will eventually be ordering more for dear friends and relatives whom are impressed with this time saving convenient egg cooker.

    • A. In the "About this item" it does state that : The boiler signals when the eggs are ready and turns off automatically so the eggs will be cooked just the way you want with minimal effort on your part. Walk away and take a shower or get the kids up while they cook. The West Bend egg cooker comes with a poaching pan, egg rack and measuring cup. So, does the signal turns off automatically, or the boiler?
