I actually like this program better than P90X. Why? Because there is no required equipment. You're using your own body weight. Plus, the exercises and movements (some might call them "old school") are mostly medium impact but have options to make them low impact without sacrificing results. From my very first workout, I could "feel" it. It's almost prescriptive. At the end of the workout I knew where I was strong and where I was weak. But I won't be weak for long! You have to try this workout. I decided not to preview the rest of the workouts, but to come to each week for a fresh new start. I feel like I have a personal trainer right beside me through every drop of sweat. This is awesome!

I wanted to do P90x but knew if I bought it I would struggle so much the first few weeks that I would quit. Plus I don't have 90 mins a day to work out. This is 35 mins from start to end. It's a very good work out, fast paced and is actually fun to do. It's hard enough that you are wore out when you’re finished and feel like you accomplished something. It’s also not to overwhelming where I feel like I would rather just be fat that have to work out again.

I am a mom of 3 boys ready to get fit. I have seen the infomercials of P90x and Insanity and believe they can work but did not want to spend the money. Also, I felt that if the other workouts were too tough they would be intimidating and I would quit. This X-Factor set was a great price and just what I needed to get started...my heart rate increased, I was in the comfort of my home, took it at my own pace, felt the muscles working, and it was not difficult. They also show a person doing modified versions of the workout to make it easier. The only gripe I have about it is having to pause the dvd...certainly not a major reason, just have the remote handy. I figure any exercise program is better than not exercising and since the others are too expensive this one works for me! Maybe when I get more fit I will invest in the others but for now getting back in shape is my goal and this is a great starting point!

I've been driving truck for the last 17 years and believe me it took it's toile. and now I'm looking to get back into shape. is this going to be to overwhelming for someone like me?

    • I am 50. Very couch potato. Just got off my anti-depression pills, as I want a new me. Gained over 100 lbs and no more excuses. This morning was my first work out, wow, the warm up and 1st round really kicked my butt. I jogged in place a lot, or did jumping jacks, something to keep heart rate up while recovering from a few exercises. Take it slow, keep to your rate of exercise, do NOT over do it. Ask your doctor first.

    • You can always go at your own pace. There are modifications to 90% of the exercises so if you can't do what they're doing, you'll still be doing something. From the first day i started to the last day of the workouts, I was drenched in sweat. It works if you do it.

    • It shouldn't overwhelm you. Just take it easy, there are modified exercises for beginners. I am in decent shape and I was sore after the 1st workout. Don't get discouraged, it'll get easier. Just stick with it! Good Luck!

    • I just wrote a review for this in which I said that they offer modifications, and you can make your own. Don't try doing the first dvd in its entirety the first time. Build up to it. They do exercises in 30, 45, and 90-second intervals. Start out doing them as 30-30-30 and build up. You don't have to carry dumbbells or any other equipment around with you. I love it.

    • The workouts can be as easy or as hard as you want them to be. You can go at your own pace and you will still see great results and gains in strength and endurance.

    • Yes it could be. If your are a smoker, then you may need to start walking and building up your cardiovascualr fitness. However, the DVD will help you get started on the path of being the person you wan to be

    • It shouldnt be. You can go at your own pace. I started out slow. Did what I could but by the end, was pretty much keeping up. Some of the things I couldnt do due to a knee injury in the past. They stress, if you need a break take it, just get back at it.

    • I would say it would possibly only be a an issue if you have problems with your knees or if you have back problems. But other than that... It will work with no doubt! There are modified positions for people that need them. Hope this info helps

    • I have not worked out until recently myself. It is intense for me but the workouts are not but around 30 minutes. You can modify some of the more difficult moves to fit your level of health as you move forward.
