LOVE IT LOVE LOVE IT!!!!! I hate the gym so I look for what I can do from home that does everything...THIS IS IT. Ordered ship>home on Sunday night, Fed Ex delivered on Thursday, 4 days later, waaay early. Get this product and NOT Total Home Gym. This has a better price, weight resistance bands, and the pullup bars at the top. Very sturdy and actually doing the excercises are relaxing, just laying there rowing back, rowing forth. I wanted to isolate my chest muscles (pecs) and after one workout, chest was sore for 2 days. Goodbhye pushup and pullup bars I had used. Assembly is quick and easy - maybe 3 bolts and 4 pins. Will need a wrench though. 13mm or equivilent, or vice grips. The price is a steal, and I would pay more for it. Go for it. BTW, I've worked out all my life, in the gym, with the military, on the high school wrestling team etc. I know a thing or two about workout equipment and this is a top home piece.

I used and wore out the Total Gym Pro before purchasing this product. It has all the same features the Total Gym had and more for less money. The resistance bands add more weight/resistance to the workout and the leg features improve my workout routine. I use this 4 x a week minimum. It makes for a quick and effective workout in a very short period of time. I would reccomment this to anyone but expecially to those overweight and older since it allows you to slowely get up to speed with its different inclines and resistance factors. With the proper diet and routine at the age of 47 I have lost 81 lbs and finally close to the same shape I was in high school.

I just got my total body works 5000.I have it put together but it won't slide. It looks like two pieces of black plastic are preventing the machine from sliding. Can someone help me with this? I have tried and read the manual and it won't tell me anything on why it won't slide.

    • fully extend the legs. The pin on the back on the silver left tube needs to be pulled out and then pull the foot pad portion out. (all slides inside...)

    • You have to pull out on the mid ball pin and slide the gray framing out of the black framing. Mine gave me a bit of a way to go as well. Lay your machine on it's side and it works easier.

    • I hope after a couple of months you have figured this out. If not, there is a knob underneath the bench. First, pull out the knob, then pull the bar attached to the knob either up or down while holding the silver pole that the bench slides on.

    • Hi, I bet you've figured it out by now, but basically you have to release that little knob that's sort of underneath it and then extend the bottom part. I had to call tech support, and even at that I didn't get how to do it. My friend figured it out.

    • Did you extend it out all the way? It extends out for about 5 - 6 feet when mine is extended fully then I get the full effect of the slide Hope this helps

    • The wedges are so it won't slide during assembly and shipping... Remove the plastic peices... lol

    • remove as much of the plastic as possible. Engage the long knob to the first position. Pull the short knob and hold it open while sliding the frame up. It might be a little difficult at first but will give way eventually. It might be better if another person could hold the short knob. Good Luck

I bought this product this weekend and I'm missing the exercise chart. Shouldn't it have been in the box?
    by confused 2/4/2014
    • The Weider Total Body Works 5000 is supposed to include a workout guide with over 100 body-shaping exercises.

    • I did not receive an exercise chart either. It would have been really nice had they included one and I felt that was one thing that was missing too or a video. You can find a lot of exercises outlined on the internet that you can print out and Total Gym does sale an exercise chart for about $16 and various videos from $19 to $25 depending on the types of exercises you are interested in. Good luck finding exercises you enjoy. I love my machine and use it everyday!
