    auto choke mechanism doesn't work

For years Weed eaters came with a manual choke which gave the operator more control of engine performance as the motor warms up. This model comes with an auto choke which engages as you push the primer bulb. The engine would idle but when I squeezed the trigger to rev up the engine it would stall and die. It did this even after the engine was warmed up. I returned to the store. WARNING Wal Mart Customers. You have only 30 days to return this item!!!!!! This is hidden in their fine print. This is not posted anywhere near the lawn equipment in the stores either, so you are likely going to find this out only when you try to return the item. Also, you must have a receipt to return any lawn equipment to the stores. No cash or gift cards will be issued without a receipt.

don't quite understand all these negative comments on such a great value. i bought mine on sale for 59.95, 5 years back and still it's ready to go. only parts replaced were 2.00 gas line and 4.00 fuel primer bulb. plenty power for grass and most big weeds encountered. boys and girls; the motor is 2 cycle. that means mix 2 cycle oil with fuel @ 40/1 ratio. if u don't it will seize when hot. bye bye. use gas with less than 10 % ethanol,,,,if not bye bye. all else fails,,,ask yo moma. moma knows!! i am very well pleased with my machine, thanks .

This product was very disappointing. It was very difficult to start out of the box despite following the instructions to the letter. After finally getting it running I literally spent more time changing the line than actually getting any work done. I went thru two entire packages of replacement line before I even used a tank of fuel. I would not recommend this product to anyone least of all a friend.

This weed eater was hard to start following the instructions. It would not restart hot. It does not have a spool you put in a 19 inch peice of line and you have to stop and put in a new one about every 10 feet. I even tried new line and it just ate it up. You will be sorry if you buy this one. It takes me 30 min to mow my lawn with this it took me 1.5 hours to just weed whack.

So far I have been using for over a month and it starts everytime after a couple of pulls of the rip cord. I really enjoy not having to work with a choke. I also like that I do not have a spool of string that unspools inself everytime the weedeater bumps the ground. The straith neck on it keeps me from having to bend over, which in the past has been a nightmare because I have back issues and the pain in my back after using a bent neck weedeater became too much. As a matter of fact, I can cut the average weed growth without even having to apply throttle on the trigger. It turns with enough rpm or whatever to cut the grass just running at idle speed. This actually saves gas/oil and at the price of petroleum products these days can add up to the cost of the weedeater in a couple of seasons.

    • A. That's a subjective question. I used this trimmer for 2 years. Since I got 2 years out of it was it worth the price? NO, because I factor in the amount of frustration trying to get it started and keep it running.

    • A. well as far as walmart goes poluan brand and weed eater are the same product just different badges. the straight shaft with a bump style feed from weed eater brand is the best bang for your buck by far.

    • A. You get what you pay for these days. I've had a electric and chargeable weed eater and have found the best is the gas. You need to look at how large is my yard and how much weed eating will need to be done per week.

    • A. a Twist N Edge. Walmart stopped selling it 2 years ago. I've tried 3 other trimmers but they are terrible. I guess I will have to go to Home Depot to get their Twist N Edge.. and I love Walmart, so it's hard to go anywhere else, but I guess I have to this time!

I'd like to know how long the string inserts last when trimming. How many minutes on avg. do the strings last? Can you do a moderate lawn trim with one set? Also, can you use generic string of the right size, or do you have to buy Weedeater string for it to fit? Thanks for answers.

    • A. Any of the appropriate sized strings will work. I recommend using a high quality string. The cheap stuff breaks to easily. Quality stuff will do the average Florida yard once. If you also use the trimmer as an edger. You'll use about 3 strings but it is worth it.

    • A. Simply tie a knot in the middle of string before putting in the head. This prevents the string from being pulled out of head. Also check to make sure it will not hit the cutter on the gaurd cut off any extra to keep it from hitting cutter. I do this and never have had trouble with string not lasting.

    • A. between 10 seconds and 3 min. and your lucky if it even last that long. the new weedeater brand head that they have switched to is poorly designed. the brand and model are great minus the new type of head. I would go with the curved shaft spool head. or switch to the straight shaft poulan brand same company and maker just more expensive and the better more reliable spool head.

    • A. The head has 2 holes using one long line you thread each end into each hole. Ten pull the ends. Totally easy but a pain if you use cheap line that breaks fast.

    • A. It is not bump and feed. You will carry a supply of string 0.095mm in your pocket or another form of carry case. When the string becomes too short for practical use, just turn it off for a minute and easily pull out the remaining string and place in a holder for disposal, front pocket. Thread a new piece very easily through the guide and pull evenly and then fire it back up and continue on your way. I have just under a 2 acre lot and I use approx 3 strings for the hole yard and yes I cut around quite a bit of objects.

    • A. You cut a piece of weed eater string about a foot long and push it through one of two holes on the head. Push the other end of the string through the other hole and it feeds through. It's super simple!
