Durable cookware at a reasonable price. I've had this cookware for about 2 years now. I think this is a good set to start with, but like all sets, you will probably have to add to it. The 5 quart Dutch Oven and the deep skillet are the same 9.5 inch size and can share the same lid. It also comes with 1 and 2 quart saucepans with lids. The 1 quart is a bit small, and you might want to add their 3 quart (or someone else's 4 quart). Wooden tools will keep the bottoms looking like new longer than the metal tools that come with this. I was initally put off by the steam that would escape near the pouring spouts, but once I got over that I have enjoyed this set immensely. The walls of the cookware are thick and sturdy. The aluminum disk bottom transfers the heat evenly and quickly. The knobs are metal, so they will get hot, but because there is no plastic or silicon on the knobs or handles, the cookware can go into the oven. What would complete this set? 1. A larger saucepan. 2. A sloped sided fry pan/skillet. 3. A 8-12 quart stock pot. That being said, it is a worthwhile set that should last a lifetime #with care, of course!). 6 mos. after purchase...I'm happy! Encapsulated base works well on glass cooktop (using medium heat). 40 yrs. of cooking, have recently given up on nonstick pans & am loving the SS, but does require a learning curve of using lower heat & allowing pan to heat throughly before cooking. Have paid more for ONE high-end brand name pan that ultimately warped (even using the proper heat).It's true that the saucepan lids do not seal tightly (for cooking rice), but the trade-off is pouring spouts and built-in straining/draining. 01/10/2012
