A great classic product

The Classic Water Flosser is truly a classic product; it has been around for years. It's not the prettiest product on the shelf, but it works and it doesn't break down. I've used this product for years and years. The more recent "upgraded" models put out by Waterpik are essentially trash. They break after a few uses. Moreover, they cost at least double or more than what the Classic product sells for. A note for those who purchase the Waterpik sinus irrigator; The Classic can be used for the same purpose by buying an inexpensive adapter on the Internet that fits as a regular pik. And, it doesn't break.

It does a great job removing food from between teeth. My only wish for this product would be a different hose. The hose is short and has a mind all it's own.

I've been buying these for years, almost yearly as the darn tubing keeps breaking off. In the earlier days, there was no replacement hose, so I had to buy a new unit. The newer ones have a replacement handle, but it is not inexpensive either, with the freight to Hawaii. As for getting the job done, it is marvelous. I use a sonic brush, brushing for that 2 minutes, rinse out, then use this unit on my gums, with an ounce of hydrogen peroxide mixed in with a full reservoir of water. Always, always, always, no matter how well I brush, there is debris flushed out. I do have deep pockets and there is probably where the problem lies. However, it beats having to go to a dentist and have him clean out those pockets. I do see my dentist twice yearly, and he still has to get way down there and scrape. It would be much more painful, and longer, without this tool. It's just a shame that the hose has to keep breaking on them. .

Effective dental care, but difficult to use

Though this product first appeared as far back as the 1960's and is well-regarded for dental care, particularly for braces and bridges, there are some difficult design flaws. The hose is too short, forcing users to give the device a premier spot next to the sink and adjacent to a GFI circuit. Even then, it is essential to bend tightly over the sink to avoid stretching the hose too far and dislodging the water pump from the sink or toilet top. The pump is not insulated from the vibrations, so mine has climbed off the counter to the floor twice in two weeks. A custom shelf with a firm rubber mat to hold the pump in place near a GFI power source and adjacent to the sink is highly recommended. Great price from Walmart.

My first Waterpik was the rechargeable and that thing was a total waste of time, it only held enough water to do maybe 3 teeth before having to be refilled. Very inconvenient. I returned it and bought the Waterpik Classic. The Waterpik Classic holds exactly 4 1/2 cups of water, more than enough to do your teeth more then two times if needed, the water hose is about 35 inches long and the power cord is long enough to reach your counter top if your plug in is near the floor. The motor is loud so if you have someone sleeping in the other room just shut the door. I've read reviews where they said it vibrates to the point where it could fall from the counter, I don't see this happening. The different settings on it are nice. Power swich on the side is a bit awkward trying to shut off it off while you have the flosser in your mouth. Overall this is a great product.

  • A. 1 regular, 1 thin stream for gum pockets and 1 tongue. It is not like the old model that provided many tips. But tips are easily cleaned with soap and water prior to use. It is not like sharing a tooth brush. The inside of course does not need cleaning

  • A. My old one had four...this new one I just got only had two. I think it may be with the model. I have never used the tongue cleaner as I have a metal tongue cleaner. So I gave never used more than one.

  • A. Check the description for the model you are purchasing - the one I got had 3 heads: two regular cleaning tips and one tongue cleaner. There are others with the same base unit with a different assortment. The model numbers in the descriptions are not always accurate (they had two model numbers in the description on mine), but the head assortment was as described.
