    Great for Reflows

I used this tool in my first re-flows of PC boards, ever. My Xbox 360 gave me the RROD. This is usually because the surface mounted GPU or CPU comes slightly off the motherboard and the solder connections break. You can fix this, however, by heating up the chips enough so the solder re-melts and the chips reconnect to the board. I took my Xbox 360 apart, took the motherboard out and removed the x-clamps and heat-sinks, then heated the motherboard as so: Stage 1 (back of board)~ Distance: 4 inches Heat: Low Time: 1 minute, evenly spread. Stage 2 (front of board, directly on CPU and GPU, with paper and tin-foil to insulate capacitors)~ Distance: 4 inches Heat: High Time: 4 minutes on GPU, CPU, and RAM, evenly spread I put it back together, and don't have the RROD anymore. I can happily play games again ^.^

This product is an exceptional value. Very reasonably priced and does a great job of stripping paint.

Well, apparently what I really want to say has sensitive language in it, and will not allow me to post what I am using this heat gun for. Nothing illegal, just a sensitive topic these days due to the recent (December) events. So, having said that, this heat gun works fine for my bluing and lubing projects. If you are going to use it for paint removal, you will need the attachments which are not included. The metal cover gets very hot and stays hot for a long time, so be careful where you lay it down, or better yet, hang it on a hook or nail till it cools.
