Battery

I have only used it once, but this little jump-starter worked just as advertised. You plug it into the running car (while it is running), and then plug it into the dead car. A light lights up to let you know it is charging, 5-10 minutes later the light changes colors to let you know it is done. The dead car's battery should then have enough juice to start. Of course if the battery is completely shot, you will not be able to start the car as the Easy Jumper cannot provide enough current to turn over the starter by itself. Very handy as it takes up less room in your car than true jumper cables.

Works as advertised

To those having trouble: this product plugs into your cigarette lighter--which on most cars is a "switched" circuit, meaning it has no connection to the battery when the key is not turned to the "ACC" position (the one where your radio turns on).

If your car is this way (you can't leave your phone in your car to charge when the key isn't in the ignition because it won't charge) you MUST turn your key to the ACC position in order for this product to work. That is the only way it will make a connection to your battery.

Because you'll be turning your key on, other things in your car will come on (radio, possibly fans, lights, etc.) turn all of those off so that more of the juice goes to the battery.

*****Tips for those having trouble*****

Excellent - I didn't have much hope that something that just plugs in the cigarette lighter can jump start a car battery!! Followed the instructions as in the box and the green light went on in 5 minutes. Attempted to start the car whose battery was discharged (left the headlights on for the night) and it started without any issues. This company needs to advertise this product much more - really don't need the crocodile clamp charger and open the hood, etc this just does it in such a user friendly manner!!

Great - works as described, follow the instruction

As silly as this device may seem, it does work quite well.  I'm not sure about the output of this charger, but many cigarette lighters are fused for five amps.  I'm guessing this device probably outputs about four amps to avoid blowing the cigarette lighter fuse - four amps is actually higher than many "trickle chargers" that require you to open the hood and connect directly to the battery!  The internal timer is set to turn the charger off after 10 minutes, however, if the battery is deeply discharged, several 10-minute charging cycles will be required.  Simply disconnect and reconnect to reset.  One word of caution, however.  The charger can get pretty warm after 10 minutes of charging, therefore, I would highly recommend that you disconnect it and allow a few minutes for cool down before reconnecting it.  Slow, yes, but you don't have to open the hood and get corrosive acid all over your hands.  Besides, I was using it to recharge the battery in a vehicle parked head-in at a public storage unit where no electricity was available for a conventional battery charger.  Another word of advice - also purchase a long male-female cigarette lighter extension cable because you'll probably need the extra length.  Could I have used a jump box instead?  Yes, but for deeply discharged batteries, I believe bringing them up "low and slow" is better way to revive them without damage than jumping them and hitting them with the full output of the vehicle's alternator.

Works quite well and is inexpensive

Okay first off I would like to say that for most females this is well worth purchasing; because you can sit in your car plug this in your cigarette lighter and the person whom will be giving you a jump simply plugs their end into their cigarette lighter and start their car and within (5) minutes you will be able to start your car and away you go!

I THOUGHT that I would be able to just plug this in my car's cigarette lighter and I would NOT have to bother getting another person to jump me.  

Wrong this simply means that you do not have to get out of your car and open both hoods and place the jumper cable on both batteries.   

I still am happy with this product because you do not have to mess with the outside elements and jumper cables.

My bad this does not do what I though it would...

I saw all the mixed reviews some happy and some not so happy with the results. The first time I tried to jump the truck nothing but clicking noise. I tried again later and the same results. The next day I decided to try multiple times, in other words the jumping requires that you plug to the vehicles and when you get a green light you should be able to jump the vehicle, so I did this sequence of waiting for the green light three times in a row and it cranked right up. So, I would say a little patience pays off with this, if it doesn't work the first time try again. With a completely dead battery it may take more than one time. If you just leave a light on and drain the battery it could work the first time. Using this saved me a 60 dollars for the towing bill, this was my only option because I couldn't get the hood open.

Hood release broken and dead battery

This is a very good product for boosting a low battery in most situations. It eliminates many of the problems and risks associated with using booster cables.

However, many of the newer cars require the ignition switch to be on before the lighter socket is connected to the battery, therefore when the battery is dead, that connection can't be made. The result is no boosting of the battery.

This product will only work if the lighter socket is live at all times, or if it is wired through the ignition switch. As a rule of thumb, it's best to assume that this product is for mostly older vehicles.

A word of caution required

Bought, awaited delivery to local store while needing my car jump started. After receiving the product, attempted to use and initially the 'idiot' lights seemed to work to inform me that the product would jump my car. The instructions said to connect and wait for the car to receive enough electricity to start. After waiting, I returned to find the 'idiot' lights not on (neither light worked) and the car did not receive a jump. I had to return the product.

I tried it and after half hour not enough charge was produced to start the car.
Tried a regular battery charger connecting to the car and whola.

Red led blinked several time but did not charge. They should disclose on the package that if by any chance a car cigarette lighter sucket has a negative connection this charger will not work, not in the instruction until after you purchase it and after waiting a week to get it.

Don't buy

i plugged it into my vehicle with a good battery and it didn't work.  then the next morning my vehicle with a good battery was dead.  it had drained my good battery
