Is the plastic around the edge of the screen a glossy, fingerprint magnet bad finished, or a nice, matte, dark finish?

    • A. The plastic around the edge of the screen is a glossy, fingerprint and dust magnet, as is the base. Gotta be careful how you clean it, too. It will scratch.

    • A. There are applications built into the TV that run on an internet connection. You need to have the internet already running in your house. If you have wi-fi already in your house, that is the best. Just input your security code for the connection and away you go. If no wi-fi, you can hook in with a phone-type cord. I watch Netflix movies on it just like it was a DVD, but it costs about $10 a month. No adapter needed.

Sweet! Watch TV or movies and tweet at the same time. Love it!

    • A. Built in WIFI access and cabled ethernet port. Its a breeze to hook up but it is limited in terms of content to those providers who have an agreement with Vizio. Here is a link to an excellent list of streaming content types available through the major providers... http://www.televisioninfo.com/content/HDTV-Streaming-Content-Compared-1687.htm You might want to wait for Google TV if you want full Internet access. Or just hook your PC up to your TV. Sony has a product in beta called PC to TV that will allow you to use your WIFI network to stream from your PC to your TV. Haven't tried it yet but soon will.

The TV fit perfect in the back of my Ford Escape with the rear seats folded down. I can hear some of you saying "A 55 inch TV in the back of an Escape??" YES it fit just barely but with a little care and patience, it was perfect. Everything about this TV is sweet! Taking it out of the box was simple, just 4 small plastic clips on the bottom to squeeze and pull out then the box just slides up and over the TV. Setting it up was easy. First step is pairing the remote with the TV to enable the Bluetooth because the factory default is set to IR. For me, the factory defaults for picture quality and sound were great. The only adjustment I made was to set the screen size to my preference. The color is amazing and the picture is very crisp. The sound is great from the TV but I use my sound system mainly. I cannot wait to get a Blue-Ray DVD Player because I can only imagine how great it will look on this bad boy! The pop-out keyboard on the remote is fantastic! I only wish the keys would lite up but no big deal there. Also, I am a huge video game freak and this TV has a "Game Mode" setting which I will detail here for you because the instruction manual that was with it did not have my model in it (My model TV is XVT5535B). GAME MODE (Info obtained from Yahoo Answers): Game modes usually do two things: 1) Reduce the brightness to reduce the risk of retained images (Yes, you can create retained images on a LCD TV). 2) Reduce buffering/lag to create a real-time experience to your game controller input. I highly recommend this TV to anyone out there!

This TV is amazing! So much better than I even expected. The picture is so clear and crisp with bright colors and black blacks. My house is very bright so this is important for us. Sound quality is great, though not surround, so we added our Yamaha theater surround connected by a fiber optic cable...amazing! Easy set up and remote set up to our cable box easily. Wireless internet features are fun, but recommend connecting via ethernet cable as our wireless is too slow to watch movies, etc. No fault of the TV. No pixeling when watching fast action like sports as long as it's HD.Non-HD has a small amount (I'm being very picky). This TV has the best picture our family has ever seen!

Such a low price for an amazing LED TV. 3 inches in depth is not too bad. This Vizo 553 series blows my Samsung 6000 series away in color ratio. You can see the difference. the Samsung has a bit more of a crisp picture. The Vizio picture is jaw dropping. 240hz looks perfect unlike my Samsung 120hz which look too fake. I love this TV the only negative thing to say is that I see some fuzz in some pictures but not everything. either way this is a definite buy for the price. Did I mention the BEST REMOTE EVER!? SLIDE OUT KEYBOARD. Blu rays and PS3 have amazing pictures. I have a Yamaha home theater system hooked up so can't really speak for the TV speakers too much.

We labored over which LED-LCD TV to buy. This Vizio 55" seemingly had the best overall reviews when combining users and professionals. Setup was a "walk in the park" despite the inherent complexities of the TV, Blu-Ray player, cable box and wi-fi permutations and conmibations. I love the remote; colors are vivid and picture quality is mesmerizing. Two mammoth thumbs up!

The tv arrived and setup was a snap. At first the picture threw me off. Everything looked soap operaie very bizare. This tv takes some getting to know before you get the picture you want. When you do spend the time to fiddle with the picture controls it will be the best tv on your block. I'm not a big fan of twitter or facebook however I do watch and use the Netflix function and the wifi. The wifi was a snap to set up. The Netflix was somewhat dissapointing however. It seems very limited as to what you can get to. For instance if we turn on my sons Xbox we have hundreds of choices not as many with the onboard Netflix. I don't know I can't explain it. Would I buy this tv again...in an instant. Visio really outdid themselvves on this one. Hope to see more backlit L.E.D products like this from Vizio. Never buy an edge lit l.e.d from anyone. This also is an energy star. Clean clear no reflection problems best picture ever. My wife still can't believe the picture quaility on this tv. Buy one or two.

At first this TV was great. Needed a bit of tweaking to get the picture how I wanted it but that was easy. Loved the features (built in wi-fi and VIA). However the second day I had it when I first turned it on the picture was very jumpy and garbled and the audio would cut in and out. Tried a few different channels and all were the same. After about 5 minutes everything was good. Later that same day after the set had been off for a couple of hours it did the same thing. This time I turned on my PS3 and that screen was a mess. Again after about five minutes everything cleared up. It seems as if the TV had to warm up. Of course I checked all the connections and tried new cables. Same thing on day three. I also had the issue where the set would turn itself off. Back to the store it went. I'm sure I just got a bad one but I don't want to risk trying another. If I keep returning 55 inch TV's it would look funny. Other than that I loved it, just wish it would have worked properly.

needed to update my family room tv, wanted a less deep tv. didnt need all the gagets as i am a 55 year old. the apps are nice, but more for the younger crowd. needed led, lcd tv as morning and early afternoon light comes in even with blinds. no problem now. football is unbelievable. even sitcoms appear as if they are live on a stage. dont care for the remote control, does not light up, hard to see with low light in the room, but tv is brilliant, easy set up, even the stand comes attached. glad i didnt spend more the 1698.00 no need for 3D at my age. not the thinnest tv, but that enables better sound, no need for home theatre speakers. did lots of research with consumer reports and cnet.

Picture is perfect. Sound is good as well. I will be installing a surround sound system soon. My only complaint is it was very difficult to set up the picture settings for the HDMI input for my cable box. I think I found a firmware bug, but I was able to work around it. I just used the picture setting recommondations from www.cnet.com.

This is a great tv, and I'm glad I waited on the newest model to come out. The picture quality is great. I can also use the picture in picture to watch 2 programs at once. I've had it 2 weeks, and it's great so far.
