VIZIO 42" Class LCD 1080p 240Hz HDTV, SV422XVT SPS Internet-Connected HDTV with VIA 4.5 5 51 61
A great product After many hours surfing the net for reviews of LCD HD Tvs I finally decided to purchase Vizio 42" 1080p, 240z from Walmart. What a product i can't stop telling people how good it is. The picture is perfect, beyond expections. Setup was easy even for this 79 year old retiree. I also purchased the Vizio Sound Bar which really enhances the sound. Service from Walmart site to store was first class 04/05/2010
Amazing picture, needs more apps The picture quality is amazing. It's almost too real looking. The "smooth motion" effect makes some shows (Lost for example) look so real it was too much for my wife. You can always turn it off or adjust it be less intense as needed, so I wouldn't call this a product flaw. The wireless networking is very quick and painless. Just search for your network and enter your password and POOF, you're online. The Netflix app is awesome. Picture quality on older movies looks great, I believe due to the picture enhancing capabilities of the tv. Pandora internet radio may come in handy, but I doubt I'll use these apps to post a facebook status or anything like that. The keyboard on the remote is handy, though a bit small for a lot of text input. I look forward to more apps being added in the future, but if you have netflix, it's worth it just to be able to stream movie without hooking up the laptop. It claimed to have an SRS sound equalizing feature but I haven't found that to be very effective. Volume still spikes with commercials.I was a bit disappointed to find that the bluetooth doesn't seem to work. I couldn't get it to recognize any devices. Tried my phone, my wife's phone, and some bluetooth headphones. I'm wondering based on something I saw on vizio.com if that functionality is scheduled to come with a firmware update in the future. That was a disappointment.Remote is quick and easy to set up control to other devices. Cable box, dvd player, all controlled by the vizio remote. All in all, great tv for the price. Can't get apps and 240Hz anywhere else for this price. 03/25/2010
Fantastic TV I really love this TV. The features are really unbelievable. The widgets are really cool. I use the Amazon video and Netflix widgets all of the time. The built in WiFi means that you don't have to run an ethernet cable to it. The remote with the sliding keyboard is nice. You can set user profiles. The TV did an update the day that I got it and I didn't have to do anything. The TV setup is really easy and all you have to do is answer the questions. I also like the bluetooth audio so I can watch TV without bothering anyone else. It was really worth the price. 04/03/2010
Walmart is awsome, VIZIO not so much. I had my VIZIO for about a month and it started to freeze up on me while using the VIA apps, which are not the greatest selection except for Netflix. Anyhow after turning the unit off, it would not turn back on, had to unplug from the wall a few times to get it to work again, then I got the red pixelated clouds all over the dark areas of the screen, seems like some sort of issue VIZIO has with its products. After searching around the internet about this issue it seems to be fairly common and looks like a common failure, that and the fact that VIZIO only lasts about 1-2 years, then you gotta buy a new one. I decided to return mine, thank goodness Walmart is cool, or I would have been stuck with a Lemon. If you are going to go cheap this route I would suggest trying out the toshiba for 200 bucks more cause losing about a grand on this is not worth it. CHeck around for "vizio red" and you will see just how many issues are around with unsatisfactory customers. Otherwise while it was working picture and sound were great. Too bad I couldnt put down 0/5 stars. 05/29/2010
