  • A. I answered this question before but thought I would add to the list of movies with great pop-out effects: Journey2 The Mysterious Island, the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth has great 3d effects, if you dont mind having a 2 foot wide lightening bug in the middle of your livingroom.

  • A. No matter what type of 3D tv you buy, it's all going to depend on the content you are watching. Some movies utilize 3D for Depth purposes only, and others throw in the out of screen pop out effects. I didn't need a new TV, but wanted to check out some of the 3D blu-rays I owned so I picked up the 32" and it works great. Will upgrade when I need a new main TV. Anyways, for good 3D pop out titles Imax Under the Sea has a Potato Cod fish that comes right into your living room. Others with good pop out effects are: A Turtle's Tale: Sammy's Adventures -have to buy overseas or rent/buy on VUDU, but has a lot of pop out Journey to the Center of the Earth My Bloody Valentine 3D Hugo Yogi Bear IMAX: Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk Drive Angry

  • A. The 3D effect is excellent. It is not so much things jumping off the screen as forgetting there is a screen. You feel like you are in the same space as what you are watching. Whether the content was filmed in 3D or was made 3D in post-processing plays a bigger role in how spectacular the effects are. Filmed in 3D is much better.

Why does the set display that it is operating on720P when it is rated for 1080P ?
by an anonymous customer 8/22/2012

  • A. Thank you for inquiring about our product. Signal Types are broadcast in a range of resolutions: 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. Your TV will display the picture in the resolution it is being broadcast in, therefore if the signal type you are watching is not broadcast in 1080p, the picture displayed will not be 1080p. If you are unsure of what resolution the channel on your cable/satellite should be, you can contact your cable/satellite provider. The resolution may also vary between the different channels (standard and HD channels). Thank you and have a great day.

  • A. The message in the upper right corner displays the type signal that is being input. My cable box outputs SD at 480p and HD at either 720p or 1080i depending on the channel I am viewing. Bluray players output at 1080p. Some players have 1080 up-conversion for DVD as well, though the image quality is not nearly as sharp as bluray. The tv automatically switches to and displays the quality of the incoming signal.

  • A. Very few, if any, cable services transmit 1080P. Chances are, all you are or can get from cable is 720P. Blue-Ray DVD is 1080P so is by far the best source. It has been found that less than 25% of the homes with HD TV's are viewing HD because of improper set up. If you are not using HDMI or at least composite from your cable box, chances are you are not viewing HD at all.

  • A. That is your input to your tv, google your cable box or satelite reciever, brand and model # for settings. I had to for comcast cable HD box. Now it overrides 480 , 720 and outputs in 1080. Hope this helps.

We had decided to get a Sharp LED TV but the Wal-Mart Electronics associate (Noam?) at the Folsom Walmart recommended this one instead--it is over a thousand dollars cheaper and is spectacular in terms of 1080p picture quality and capabilities. We used the 3-D capabilities at a recent party and all the guests were extemely impressed. With the passive 3-D Vizio uses, the "Real3D" glasses you get for free at the movie theaters are used so you never have to buy any additional "active shutter" 3D glasses like with the Sharp. The device comes with four sets of passive glasses which are extemely comfortable to wear. This device is also internet & Wi-Fi enabled so once you figure out the remote control you can get to Facebook, etc. although it is much easier to access on a computer. Downsides: the Vizio uses primarily HDMI 1.4 for audio and video connections. i could not hook up older composite video-out devices. Other than the HDMI, the connections on the back are extremely difficult to access after this heavy (85 lbs+) device is wall mounted.

Purchased my Vizio 65" in Westfield Ma, March 2012. Researched many different makes and models.....the Vizio is a great deal for the money. We are very happy with the performance and screen size (optimum screen size is relative to distance from tv x .53).....so a distance of 10 to 12 feet away is perfect for this Vizio. The 2D picture is awesome (Charter Cable HD), and the 3D is shockingly (is that a word?) unbelievable! So far I have stayed with the factory settings and it is perfect.....a surround system is necessary to enjoy a full theater experience. We are also hooked up to high speed internet to utilize the built in Wi Fi, and a 3D Blu Ray for HD 2D and 3D Blu Ray; although the TV will not convert 2D to 3D, the Blu Ray player will....so this is not a big deal. This TV retailed for twice as much when it first hit the market in 2011.....we are very happy with it so far.....no regrets!

For all the viewers who want a quick and clear review here it is. Picture quality meets far beyond expectations, its like looking outside of a window. Sound quality is great, ive put the volume at 35% and it drowns out any outside noise while still maintaining crisp clear sound. Build quality does not feel cheap at all, face plate is plastic but the entire housing and back side is metal which does add weight, takes three people to put it together, two to hold the tv up while the third puts and screws on the stand. The only down side of the tv is the TV screen. The TV screen does have a glossy finish which is fantastic at night but does not do justice during the day. If you have a large window in front of the TV it will reflect the outside light. FYI I do own the 32'' 3D Version and I feel exactly the same on that one to.

Wow! This Vizio 65" 3D TV is indeed theater quality. I am very impressed! I replaced my old 52" rear projection TV with a built in stereo speaker on the bottom. My new Vizio was a downgrade on the stereo sound with TV alone but what an upgrade in picture quality! A few things to note, however: (1) if you dont already have a stand or a wall mount for it, you will need that; (2) if you don't already have a surround sound system or sound bar, you will need that too; and (3) to experience the 3D features you will need a compatible 3D DVD player as the cablevision 3D options are almost nil. You can't experience the 3D feature without 3D input. So it may cost you a little bit more money to experience the full effect of this TV's features. I also had to have my cable box upgraded with my cable company who also switched out my old cable cords to the HDMI cords...no additional cost for that. All in all, I love it!

IPhone-Like Picture

Customer review by HurricaneGuy

5.0 stars 6/24/2012 by HurricaneGuy

I research things to death before I make a purchase. I spent three weeks and many shopping trips to view tv's at a variety of stores. I was replacing a 2000-era Mitsubishi 65" HD projection TV. I'm well aware that the plasmas are getting the best reviews nowadays - especially the Panasonic ST50/GT50/VT50 models. The ST50 was out of stock at a local Best Buy so, after a few weeks and prodding from a salesperson, I took home a Panasonic 60UT50. After reading a few more reviews that night I took it back - unopened - the next day. I also considered a number of models from Sony and Samsung - however - most reviews said the Sony 3d was lousy and the web browser on the Samsung and/or the fancy voice features on the 2012 models was basically not good at all. I must have read 1,000 pro and user reviews on cnet and amazon. In a side-by-side comparison at any place that had a Vizio 65" on display - the Vizio blew away the others - I can only liken the picture to an iphone retina display. So, after bringing the Panasonic back to BB - I bought the Vizio at Walmart. Even better, extending the warranty three extra years - from one to three - only cost $139 - way too cheap to pass up - and - much cheaper than the typical $400-500 warranties that ARE easy to pass up. Set-up was simple - couldn't have been easier. Go HDMI all the way and the set-up is foolproof. Getting online was just as easy - Vizio has by far the best menu system of any tv I've seen. The pictures are vivid - bright and crystal clear. Don't be fooled by the glossy screen - I was very worried about it as my family room has a skylight, a large picture window to the right and a bank of windows in our kitchen to the left. To my surprise, the picture is ten times less glossy than the 2000-era Mitsubishi 65" HD projection tv the Vizio replaced. The name on the front may not impress your friends as much as Sony, Panasonic or Samsung but I don't care - I bought the tv for the picture - and I couldn't be happier with my decision to purchase this TV.

My family room TV was a 52" DLP HDTV that we'd had for 6 years. I thought it was just fine. So, the bulb went out again and we decided to upgrade. I've had a couple 42" LCD Visio sets for a few years now and they're still working great, so I feel better about the brand, first off. Also, the ratings are all good and seeing it in the store all helped with the decision. Let me tell you, if you think an older 52" DLP 1080i HDTV can even compare to this, then you NEED to see this in your home. The picture is huge, the set is sleek and thin, it is crisp, clear, bright, and amazing. Then, oh yeah, there's that little matter of the 3D part. Amazing. This is a great set and a great value, and we're very glad we decided to upgrade. Has WiFi and lots of apps, too. Really nice set. Note- Like most of these types of TV's, the sound is subpar. Marry it to a nice home theater and you're at the Cineplex every day.

Absolutely Incredible TV!

Customer review by JasoninWA

So for quite some time now I’ve been toying with the idea of replacing my old Sony Non-HD TV in my family room. I have a 50” Panasonic in my bedroom and I wanted something really big for the family to enjoy. I have stayed away from the 3d sets because the glasses were such a pain (batteries, weight, etc.) but with the Vizio, the glasses are the same as what you get at the movies and no batteries to worry about. So I looked around at several TV’s and found the Vizio on sale at Wal-Mart for only $1649.00, what a deal! Looking at the Vizio side by side with the “big brands” the Vizo’s picture definitely was clearer and crisper for a fraction of the cost. So, after swallowing hard and shelling out the cash, I brought the new family member home. Setup was a breeze and with a bit of help placing the TV on my stand we were up and running within twenty minutes. Once you power the TV on, the easy setup menu appears and guides you through the initial process. One thing to note and this may be a bit silly, but I really was impressed that a full sized screw driver was included to mount the screws for the base. Nice touch Vizio. After flipping through the channels for a bit and playing with the A/V settings, I decided to try out the app’s that came with the TV. It was easy and fast to link my current Netflix account with the TV, all I did was push the Netflix button on the TV entered a bit of Data and off I went. An hour or so later I was dying to try out the 3D feature on the TV, sadly I didn’t have any 3D blue ray discs but I remembered the Vudu button on the remote, presto! Vudu quickly came up and to my surprise there was a $20.00 credit with my new Vudu account compliments of Vizio. The kids wanted to watch the new Ghost Rider movie in 3D so a few clicks, glasses on and the 3D on this TV was absolutely amazing! Now I am about a week into ownership of this TV and very happy. Movies, regular TV, and Video Games are wonderful! The only Con is the remote which comes with the TV is not universal so I can’t add any other components to it, bummer because the other features on the remote are excellent! If you are looking for a big 3D TV with all of the bells and whistles which is not going to cost you 4-5K, this is the one for you.

Good tv for the price

I purchased this tv to replace a vizio XVT3D650SV that was damaged due to a severe power surge during a storm. The surge even took out the surge protector. The tv it replaced was basically the same but it had a few features vizio deleted from this newer version. First the remote. The old remote was bluetooth which was great. It controlled the vizio sound bar too. The new remote is not Bluetooth and will not control the sound bar volume. Second the new tv does not have the same sound adjustment options. The sound is not good. Very flat response. A sound bar is a must. The old tv had 5 hdmi ports this one has 4. Not a big deal but could be a problem for someone else. The old tv also was edge lit like this one but it had smart dimming built in and many other custom video adjustments. This one does not. The old tv also started up a bit faster than this one. Now for the improvements. The picture quality on the old one was good. On the new one the motion in both regular and 3D is noticeably smoother. Although the new one is missing some high end features it is still one of the biggest and best quality pictures both 3D/2D I've seen for this price. There are some similar tv's for $500-$1000 more that do not have this picture quality. I bought this one online and picked it up the next day. (my local store just happened to have it in stock) Walmart service was great and the transaction was smooth. Even with the missing features I would still buy this tv again without hesitation. The 3D is just great as is HD programming. You denfinately want at least 10 feet of distance to get the best quality and enjoyment from the tv. Highly recommend this tv. If you buy this tv buy a sound bar to go with it and use the fiber optic cable to connect to the tv. It's worth it.

Dealt with Michael in the El Cajon location. (13487 Camino Canada) I wish I could kill the bass on the TV, or maybe I have not found out how. Set it up on a wall mount, looks good, the 3D really gets you. I wish it was a universal remote, maybe I still need to research that more. Over all, so far so good. Directv should offer more 3D channels and we are set...PS3 and Xbox360, WOW! good stuff.
