I don't buy a TV often so i want to have the 1080p capability when everyone eventually moves to it.Nicely colored coded inputs. It has an audio output which makes hooking up the surrond sound alot easier. Optical audio 3 HDMI slots Component video and S-video you can connect just about anything to it. 97 cent shipping is awesome too for something that is so large and weighs so much.Excellent condition when received and no dead pixels. I only have had it for a few weeks now so i can't say how the long term performance is.It's a VIZIO made in america and so are all the sub parts. 12/11/2009 Great TV!!! I had been waiting to get an HD tv until I could find the right brand and quality for the right price. I was willing to pay more for better quality, but I wasn't going to lay down thousands of dollars for a tv. If you have the money to spend on a more expensive tv than this, then don't even bother looking at this one. There is enough of a difference between these tvs and the high dollar ones that you should go for the high dollar one if you can afford it.Having said that, this tv is the best you can get for the price, and the price keeps dropping. Out of the box the tv looks great, but may look a little dark, so I spent a while tweeking the picture settings until I got the best looking picture to my eyes. The big thing to remember is that you must have a HD signal to get an HD picture. If you pull a normal cable line into the tv, you're not going to have an HD picture. Also, every HD channel looks different. I've notice some channels are much clearer than others, and that has nothing to do with the tv and everything to do with the signal sent from your provider.The picture quality is great. There are so many setting options so you are bound to find the right combination of picture settings for you. The sound leaves a little bit to be desired, but you're never going to get great sound straight out of a tv. With the great picture you'll be getting, you'll want to hook this up to a stereo/home theater system to get the whole experience. I'm only giving this 4 out of 5 stars for picture because it's not quite as crystal clear as the high-dollar versions, but that's not a complaint at all. The picture is still unbelievably crisp and clear.I know some reviews say this is the worst product they've ever purchased. But do me a favor...go look at the reviews for any tv on this website. Every one of them have some terrible reviews to go along with the good ones. Every one of them have people claiming the tvs are horrible and telling you not to buy them. Customer reviews can be very helpful, but do your own research and look for exactly what you want out of a tv. There are so many options (1080p or 720p, LCD or Plasma, Hz, contrast...) that you really should figure out what's right for you before you ever go to a store to buy one. Do some homework on the tvs and don't rely strictly on reviews or a store's tv "expert". They'll be trying to convince you to buy what THEY prefer, which may not be right for you. For my money and for what I wanted out of it, this tv was by far the best quality and price. We've had this tv for 8 months now, had no problems what so ever and couldn't be happier. 02/14/2010 Recommended this model is very close to the one listed in CR; VO42L FHDTV10A, which was a recommeded buy; nonetheless, the model I brought from Walmart, ROCKS; Great Picture, it has 3-HMDI connects and did I mentioned GREAT PRICE for a 42" 1080P; this LCD TV doesn't disappoint; Vizio is a up and coming brand, now is the time to buy 05/30/2009 Wow. We purchased the 37" of the same TV less than a month ago for $597; checked online today and found this beauty for $1 more. A bit of a hassle later in store, but ultimately, we swapped the 37" for the 42" for $1+tax.The picture quality is EXCELLENT.
