Previously had purchased the 24-inch counter chairs identical to the table chairs. Took my time and laid out all parts. Partially assembled without using screws etc to make sure that all angles and edges would line up. Previous reviewers suggested parts not fitting etc. After completing all four of these chairs/stools, I'm convinced that the poor reviews were caused by poor assembly judgment. Use a good water cleanup glue before you assemble so the screws when pulled tight squeezes out excess. Cleanup excess. Chairs/stools are sturdy & look great. I'm picky about looks, value and quality. You can't go wrong!

I purchased 2 sets of these chairs for everyday use in my kitchen. I read the reviews before buying the chairs and took previous reviewers advice to use a little wood glue when putting them together. I didn't find them difficult to put together or the instructions hard to understand. You just have to lay them out first and use your common sense with the labeling, just like most assembly required purchases. Using the instructions is the key ;) I think they look great and are comfortable. I really like that they already have rubber stoppers on the bottom of the legs so they don't make a huge racket on the kitchen floor, very pleasantly surprised by that. They are not too big, but big enough to hold my 2 year olds high chair seat and their clean lines make them easy to wipe clean.

I was excited when I found these chairs online--I loved the style and, of course, the price, so I ordered 6 chairs total. After waiting 2 weeks to receive the chairs at my local Wal Mart, we picked them up and took them home. To my disappointment, both chair backs in the first box were broken (actual splintered wood), so we did not even bother to open the other 2 boxes. In this case, my husband pointed out, it seems you do get what you pay for. We took all of them back the same day.

The instructions were terrible, but I eventually got it figured out. The chairs are very sturdy and nice looking. I purchased them at one price with the matching drop-leaf table. It came with 4 chairs and I wish I had a choice of just 2 chairs, since space is very limited. So, 2 chairs went to Goodwill.

I bought 6 virginia cross-back dining chairs, and all have same problem. There are 3 32" corkscrews to connect seat to chair, and 3 holes on the chair rail, but only one hole on the seat. This one hole is in the front/center bottom of the seat but seems to be 2" off, if screwed in as-is, there will be a 2" gap on the back of the seat. Do I need to drill all 3 new holes? Any suggestions?

    • A. I just lined the back of the seat to the rails evenly. Then that 1 hole that you mentioned i use as a guide for the front center screw. Then recheck the seat alignment. Worked fine for me.

    • A. I had the same question and was puzzled for a bit, until I realized that once you start screwing those screws in, they somehow attach or fit into place. I thought it was very odd too at first, but just go ahead and screw them in as if a hole was there and you will find that they will "catch" when/where they need to.

    • A. There will be a gap between the seat and frame, unfortunately. There should be holes on either side of the frame and the hole you are referring to at the front of the frame to secure the seat. Let me know if you would like pictures to compare.

    • A. Sorry to tell you, you need to break our your drill, all right. I had the same problem. Put the screws through the existing three pocket screw holes in the chair frame and drill them into the seat. And yes, that pocket hole in the seat is completely erroneous. QC in the factory must be non-existent.

    • A. i have these chairs in black, but had the same issue. use a toothpick dipped in paint or something to stick it thru to mark where you'll need to drill once you get the seat on straigh and fluch to the back of the chair. then drill just a bit to get the screw started where paint went through to the seat. also the hole in the middle of the seat, that is not a predrill hole. if you use that your seat would be too far off the back.

    • A. I screwed the middle part first and then the sides, because the front is the only predilled hole. then I held the seat firmly while putting in the side screws. there was a gap at the back but not two inches maybe half inch which looks normal.

    • A. Once the chairs are completely assembled(except for the seat) you should notice there are holes in the cross bars that the seat will sit flush on & that's where you screw them in. I would suggest a power drill!

    • A. Speaking personally, (and not very proudly I might add), I weight 270 pounds and have been sitting on the chair for about 2 weeks now and have had no problems. I worried about creaking or wobbling due to my weight, but so far I haven't experienced any. However, keep in mind, I've only sat on them for about 2 weeks so they haven't been used for very long.
