Nice bike, bad fender.

First of all, my wife loves this bike. However it did have some issues. The rear fender isn't sized very well for the large tires that the bike has. We brought it home and it was fine until the tires were pumped up to a higher inflation pressure (still well under the rated maximum). Once the tires swelled, the fender rubs on the tire. I checked all the mounting points, but they were set as far out as they could go. My only option was to pry and bend the fender with a channel lock pliers to expand the fender to fit. Even using cardboard as a buffer, we still got some scuffs on the fender. Again, my wife loves the bike, and all the other parts of it work well, but for $200, the fenders should have enough room to compensate for the tires.

I love this bike!!! I bought it because my back was giving me trouble if I had to lean forward to reach the handlebars. This one is pain-free riding and my kids are so excited that I will actually ride with them now. From reading reviews, I was worried that the bike would come damaged but it didn't. I had it shipped (standard) directly to my home and it showed up right away. There was a tiny hole in the box and the brake handle was poking through but no damage. The bike is purple and silver (not black as it looks in the picture).

I am very happy with my bike. I was not at first because of the fact that the instructions were so unclear. The instructions are for several different bikes made by the same company and so they do not cover everything on this bike. This was my first bike since I was like 12 so I was unsure about what went where exactly. I had to take it apart about 3-4 times to get everything right.(I am the one who assembles everything we buy, I enjoy it and usually get it right the first time.) Now that it is assembled correctly I like very much and would recommend it.

Nice bike.. with wrong parts

I'm really happy with my new bike now, it's just what I was looking for: a nice cruiser with hand brakes (I've never had coaster brakes.. and I read somewhere that hand brakes are safer). The only big problem was assembling the bike, which is not hard by itself, but it's gets really complicated when all the parts are wrong! First I got a wrong seat post, which didn't fit where it was supposed to.. Then the pedals were also wrong. People from Walmart and Bicycle Group were really helpful and replace the wrong parts, but in total it took me near three weeks to assemble the bike. So I have only enjoyed by new bike for two weeks now... and everything has been perfect. The seat is comfortable, brakes work perfectly, the ride is very smooth and the bicycle design is really nice. I haven't figured out how to use the gears yet, but that's because this is the first bike with gears I ride. I hadn't rode a bike in years, and each time I go out with my bike now I want to stay hours and hours riding. The only reason I rate 4 is because of the wrong parts. Be careful when assembling it and don't get frustrated if some parts don't fit where they are supposed to!

Was what I expected. Works great. Was delivered sooner than expected. Came partially assembled (my husband was ecstatic!). I can sit upright & pedal without my knees hitting the handlebars. Looks sharp, but chrome fenders were scratched & one was rusty. I called manufacturer - a REAL PERSON ANSWERED! He only transferred me one time - to another real person. Very helpful, said would replace fenders & I received them (in great condition) in less than a week! Wow!

It's making a lot of noise. Did you have the same experience where the fenders rubbed against the tire? Or.. is there a specific way to put on the tire?

  • A. I had mine put together at a bike shop and had the same problem. It is a design flaw and not an issue with assembly. I had to have the bike shop jerry-rig the fender

  • A. Hello! I've had experience with this. I would get flat tires allllll the time and take wheels on and off all the time. I notice somtimes when I would assemble the wheel it would rub, make noise AND slow me down. When you assemble the tires, you have to position (im sorry I don't know the proper name but the metal stick-like things. Same sticks located on opposite ends in the center of the tire. You know where you screw on and off bolts to remove the tire?). First, turn the bike upside down. Take off the bolts securing the wheel. What I do first is position the (metal stick-like things) further away from the fender (a reasonable shift but not so much it would fall out the socket) Look so that the wheel tire is centered and screw in one bolt ALMOST tight; 3/4ths the way. With one bolt secured on the wheel, I hold the free (metal stick-like thing) with my fingers so I can adjust it while listening. With the other hand I spin the wheel observing it of any rubbing, noises, or stiffness in motion. Once the position I'm holding it in sounds and spins freely without friction, I screw the bolt there 1/2. Then more testing with spining. If that clears then I screw in the bolts a little tighter then test again. Keep doing this until they are both tight. Don't screw in the bolts too tight either because that could be the reason it's rubbing now. Once both bolts are screwed secure, I do a test ride and listen. It's a trick of listening where the rubbing is and playing with the position of where you lock the wheel in place. I had to learn the hard way you can't just put the wheel in, screw, and go. You have to center it AND center the amount of pressure on the bolts, otherwise the tire will be pulled to one side more and rub. Hope that helps. I know it's a bit confusing.
