"Victory At Sea," a 26-Episode series on World War II, represented one of the most ambitious documentary undertakings of early network television. Each half-hour installment dealt with some aspect of World War II naval warfare and highlighted each of the sea war's major campaigns: the Battle of the North Atlantic, the attack on the Pearl Harbor, the Battle of Midway, antisubmarine patrol in the South Atlantic, the Leyte Gulf campaign, etc. Each episode was composed of archival footage originally accumulated by the U.S., British, Japanese or German navies.

I purchased after an unhappy experience with the History Channel version, which had a decent picture but poor volume (Leonard Graves' voice was hard to here; music was fine). This set has excellent voice/music volume although the film quality appears to be have dubbed to DVD from VHS. Still, for the price and extremely quick delivery by WalMart, it's a good value. 09/18/2010
I was very dissapointed and had to return it to the store. the product was to be the complete 26 episodes, however when I opened the DVD case there were only two discs with 9 episodes each. Apparently a third disc containing the final 8 episodes was not included. 10/24/2010
Victory at Sea This is the best collection of WW II naval history that I have seen. Amazing collection of naval history for a price that is also amazing. If you are interested in WW II history, this is the dvd to get. 09/01/2010
