This is absolutely the best!!! I have tried two other kinds and the mice LOVED THOSE. They walked in had a snack then left me some dropping and went home. Not with this one! The only complaint I might have is that it is kind of hard to tell if you have caught anyone without opening. (at least for me) Also be Sure you have the cover in the side tracks or they will push it open. (silly me)

Set it out last night with some of their favorite snacks (dog kibble and fabuloso label with glue still on it) and the next morning there were two mice. Releasing them was a little tricky because its a the lid doesn't come off very easily and takes a little wiggling. It goes against every instinct to handle and wiggle it with wilde critters inside but I was able to get it off enough for it to jump (yes jump - so be careful it doesn't jump back on you) out. This is why I gave 4 starts instead of 5. The other thing I didn't like was knowing I had more than one mouse...In my mind it was just one rogue mouse but now I know I better and I'm thrilled to have them out of the house! Will put it out again today to see if there are more.

I hope it keeps working as well as the first try. I put it out the first night/morning at about 3 am, but the sun was coming up and I was still active, so I didn't expect any results. The next night when I got home from work, however, I had snagged one using peanut butter as bait. Unfortunately, though, when I went to release him, he had wedged himself under the ramp and wouldn't let go. I had to leave the open trap out in the woods overnight. I guess I'll have to get a couple more. So long as the critters don't get wise to it, it's a great trap. I can't see 4 of my guys fitting in there, though.

A mouse in the kitchen... what a nuisance. I had tried the wooden rectangular spring-activated trap, but because the mouse is so small, it would just eat the bait (I use peanut butter) without triggering the mechanism. My local walmart did not have it in stock, and so I traveled 20 miles to the nearest Walmart to buy it. The trip was well worth it. With this box, the mouse steps on a metallic ramp and once half-way through, it is locked inside and cannot get out. When you un-wrap the box, remove the scotch tape holding the top lid to the box on either side, then slide the top lid open, place the bait and then close the lid. Worked great on the very first night I set it up. Priced under $5, it is a bargain. I highly recommend it.

Little mousie scared me half to death when he appeared on my computer table (although he was probably more scared than I was) so something had to be done. I don't like to kill things so I did some online research and found this trap and it caught a mouse the first night (last night). It isn't perfect, though: - The plastic is a bit too opaque, which makes it hard to see if there's anything in there - I thought it was empty until I held it up to a window and saw the silhouette of the mouse moving around. - The lid is hard to get on and off. It slides inside a track (one on each side) but not easily. I had trouble setting it up and even more trouble opening it again to let the mouse out. Also - it's supposed to hold up to 4 mice but even as small as they are, I think that would be a bit too much. I do have a few suggestions for using it: - The best way to see if it's "occupied" is to use a backlight. I had first tried shining a flashlight on it without success; I think if I had used the flashlight *from the other side* I might have not needed to use the window. (I did pick it to see if it felt heavy but the mouse was really small so his weight probably didn't make a difference.) - When you're first setting it up it's easy to not get the lid back on right after you've baited it; you have to make sure it's in the track *on both sides* (someone else mentioned this, I just wanted to emphasize it) or the lid won't stay on properly and the mouse could get out. - I've read that the mouse/mice should be released 2-3 miles from the building so they don't just come back inside. I couldn't go that far - I was walking - but I did manage about a mile and picked an area that didn't have too many buildings nearby. - Because the lid doesn't slide easily I was worried about having trouble getting it off when I went to release the mouse so I brought my leather gardening gloves in case the mouse went the wrong way - I didn't want to get bitten. That didn't happen but if I catch any more I will probably do the same. - And finally, because this is a live trap you have to remember to CHECK IT PERIODICALLY. Maybe that's a no-brainer but I just want to be sure people understand they can't just "set it and forget it." I have no idea how long a mouse could live in there without food but it isn't indefinitely. The traps are washable but I decided not to because 1) I was concerned about health hazards with disposing of the droppings, 2) I could have used bleach but was afraid the smell would linger and obscure the smell of the bait, and finally 3) these things are cheap enough that it's not a budgetary strain to just replace them. I did feel a bit of guilt at throwing out something plastic but the health hazard considerations overruled it.
