If you have tried to burn an extended (double layer) DVD and ended up with a stack of coasters instead this is the DVD for you. Works on every DVD burner without fail that I tried them on. Where as the other brands would not. Well worth the extra money because they work as advertised.

New to the whole burning thing. AM making home vids with Windows media player to send overseas, as well as backing up youtube vids, music and photos. Perhaps even a backup,of my PC like one commentor stated, so is this the item I need? or is there a different one, just as useful?

  • As Usuall its not just a yes or no thing, here is a brief answer about burning, at least two things involved, the burner, and the media you are burning. Make sure your burner can burn the media you have or are going to get - check the specs on the burner, or you are going to get errors and not know why, you will still get errors but at least you will know that is not it. CDs burn to approx 700meg, dvd's 4.7gb or 8.5gb depending on the type you buy. That is the beginning of it, now you have to get the software to burn stuff, poweriso or imgburn seem to be the most used, I have both, they work equally good or bad. Burning is alot of hit or miss. I have burned approx 1000 dvd and sincerely sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. here are a few things that helps. only run the burning software by itself, you cant do anything else while burning, no email, no web, nuttin. also turn off your virus protection, putting that much data down must appear like a virus and cause the burning software to give you errors. always pick the slowest option the burning software gives you when burning info, in the long run you will burn more. put the files you are burning from on the local drive, if they are network or even on a usb drive this too causes errors. Well you are getting the idea there is some erros envolved here, I always bump up the cpu to the burning software via Atl cntl del, then right click poweriso or imgburn and select priority, then select "HIGH", also make sure nothing else is running that you dont need, the less the better, stop any services or programs, this helps in problem determination. My last disk just finished, yeah, Im out, good luck.
