Rated 5 out of 5Â by Altmed Great catcher for litter!! I wish this came in more colors, but these are great to catch most of the litter my cat drags out of the boxes.I used to use a small, low nap car mat from a car I used to own, but it only washed so many times & fell apart. This is GREAT to catch litter! I didn't think much of these until I got one in a set bundle cat box, mat, bowls being sold together. I put one in the bathroom & what a difference!I wish they sold these sets in stores (box & mat, although the bowls I didn't care for, as plastics don't do well with our hard water & don't hold enough water IMHO. I always have a LOT of water around for my cat! It's a warm summer & evaporates from the tiny bowls quickly.)Anyhow, I kinda put up with the color, as it doesn't match my decor, but it's worth it to have the litter caught for the most part & makes box areas far more sanitary & don't have to vacuum nearly as often (before this it was a daily thing & I'd considered buying a light weight "electric broom", because it was a hassle.)Some cats are jumpers out of the box, so for these, you might want to get a larger, washable rug to go under this, but this will still catch most of it, especially with litter that doesn't stick in your cat's paws, thus the type of litter also being important!Crystal litter is best, lasts longer & while it IS more expensive & the prices are climbing, so I'm considering changing, but if the prices come down, or lessen, I'll stick with the all crystal. 2nd choice is diatomaceous earth, which can be found at the 99 cent or dollar stores & is far lighter than clay. If you use clay, it WILL track outside the box & it gets into everything, including clothes, carpets, air, etc. Cheaper? yeah, unless you get the diatomaceous earth, but again, to keep the litter out of your floors & elsewhere & to have a healthier home, get the ALL crystal stuff & a mat to go with it!You'll be glad you did & so will you kitty! The larger sized crystals drop on the mat easier & are tracked less, but if your cat doesn't like it, get the "Long hair" or smaller crystal version. The mat seems to act like a magnet to the crystal litter & most of it will land there. The mat cleans easily as well!A "MUST HAVE" for cat owners! (great for those with other pets that use litter boxes!) 08/07/2012
