I have found that the modem works fine with Windows 7.

It works with Vista so it should but this isn't specified on the box.

I have Windows 7 on my laptop, and this router works fabulously on it!

Says it works with windows 7 and I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit with no problems.

Listed as Netgear N300 & WNR2000 (one and the same).

I've recently gotten a new 13" Apple Macbook, and this external modem works great! :) I wanted to keep my dial up since it fits my internet use perfectly, and it's cheaper than high speed! I just plugged everything in (very simple) and started my computer. When I got to the desktop, a message was already there ready to take me to my system preferences where I set up my dial up information (such as account name, password, and dial in number). Saved the changes, and hit connect.. within seconds I was online checking my email :) I didn't even have to use the installer disk ;) I've been an Apple user for a long time now, and this is my first computer without an internal modem. Apple is pretty good with the "plug n' play" thing, and it was no different in this case. Everything is quick and simple :)

Only trouble with this modem is that the driver cannot be installed in the normal way on a Windows 7 computer. The driver has to be loaded this way:

It Works

I had serious concerns that it would not work with Mac OSX Mavericks. Especially since Apple had failed to support their own USB modem. However, it does.

I have tried few different kind of moderns. This one is easy to connect and the fastest than what I had before.

faster speed connection

a new laptop was required, but internal modems no longer were available, even though my remote isolated location requires a dialup connection. It may not be fast, but at least I am connected and it is relatively secure.

this USRobotics 56K USB 2.0 External Modem solved the problem. The device is clean looking, white, has a rj11 attached to a small cord making connections easy.

for the initial connection connect directly to the computer usb - use the install advice of other reviewers (not the one included in package). then after the installation is successful, on my computer, the modem works well even connected to the remote usb 4plex adapter. It is nearly as good as an internal modem because it is out of the way connected to the adapter, and I can leave it at home when I am out and about where I can use the free wifi that is so readily available.

This thing is so neat...My refurb from Dell's outlet didnt come with a modem and I need to send out faxes every now and then so while I was surfing for the old fashioned internal modem I ran across USB modems at another website. I had never seen one before so I didnt know what it was and I'm glad I took a second look. I was amazed that this little thing is a modem. It also comes with fax software so you can send and receive faxes. There are some others that were less expensive but didnt say anything about fax capability so I spent the extra money for that as well as the US Robotics reputation. This is well worth the money. To my surprise I found it at walmart.com so I ordered from them just in case I didnt like it or something then I could take it back without hassle.

USRobtics 56K USB 2.0 External Modem

It works fine..you must have a disc drive to install the software so I couldn't use it on my 8 in. laptop or kindle. It must be plugged in to the phone outlet, no wireless.

good but has limitations

Bought 2, both worked as expected at first, had phone line ran through separate surge protectors for both, seems that everytime they're in use and the power flickers they die though, never to work again, not sure why, tried other computers and usb ports and tried running direct w/o surge after, then i split one of them open and traced the circuits, everythings seems to be getting power no luck though

Works unless....

This unit DOES NOT work with AOL. Others have expereinced the same problem per the internet. AOL does not recognize the "start up string" or some such thing. You must modify the aol software and elliminate 3 charachters of the log-in stream.Unless you are comfortable doing this kind of thing, DO NOT buy this unit if you want to dial in to AOL.Suggest calling US Robotics to see if they're aware of it and have figured it out yet, but its been a problem with this unit for months.If they cannot or will not walk you thru the AOL software fix (which is not hard once you know what the heck to do), don't buy it!
