I want to transfer video from my mini laptop (with the usb end) to any TV that has the S video connections. Will this product do that for me?

Didn't work for me in WMM when I tried it. I got sound but no video.

Great for turning DVD's into a digital copy of the movie or cartoons or old VCR tapes into DVD's or just get rid of the clutter by turning them into digital copies and storing them in an external hard drive. Voila no more shelves full of old tapes. Easy peasy.

WORKS!!!!!!!!!

The capture device works perfectly... I did not use the software with this device because i have CyberLink Power Director 10.... CyberLink Power Director 10 can burn DVDs, Blurays and more.. My brother has an old panasonic camcorder with a 2001 Xmas video of our parents, sisters, brother, nieces and nephews... What makes this video so very special and important is that our parents has pass away.... It felt so very good to see and hear my parents on this video... I made DVDs to share with the family.... USB-Live2 USB Video Capture Device (Windows PC) is made by Hauppauge the same company the made the tv tuner/ recorder cards in both my pc's... Hauppauge makes very reliable products.... It was so easy to install and update the driver: an after the driver update i was capturing precious memories in digital format........ Forget about any bad reviews of this product, i did an i am So VERY HAPPY !!!!

Great For Capturing Video From Old Camcorders VCRs

It captures video in a transport screen (.ts) and then converts it
to mpeg2. So far I have only got it to work with the included
video software. (WinTV 7). I tried Windows Movie Maker and I
got sound but not video. I tried VirtualDub video processor but
I got nothing when I tried to capture video. VD didn't work at all.

On longer video captures (5min+) the sound will drop out
for half a second or shorter. It is noticeable on playback.
I presume it does this to keep the audio in sync with the video.
It still suits my needs just fine, but it is something to consider.

So far it will fit my needs. It makes DVD quality mpeg2 video.

Great for capturing short videos

Good low cost way to transfer old VCR tapes to DVD. Manufacture fails to inform you that connecting cables ARE NOT INCLUDED.... The cable supplied is fitted with female connecters for your connecter cables to plug into. You need to have a composite cable (R and L audio and video) or a S-Video cable. These ARE NOT SUPPLIED! It should say on the box that they are needed but not supplied. You might want to order them if you do not have them.

Good low cost way to transfer old vcr tapes to DVD

Works great. I had ordered a previous unit from another company and sent it back. I think it was faulty but the man claimed it was not and I was not doing something right. Wrong. I am not a complete idiot with computers only a half idiot.
I had no trouble with this hardware or loading the programs to run it. Works great. I rate this unit 4 stars only because I like to give room for improvement. When the old VHS family tapes get that black static it will stop capturing after 2 to 5 seconds and I have to find out where it stopped and back wind the tape, etc. which takes time. It should stop after 15 secs or so. The black static on most old camcorders is where you stopped video taping between video taping or the end of the tape. Other than that it works great and would tell people that this is the right choice to buy.

VHS to DVD transfer USB cable.

I returned the product. While the setup was not difficult, the digitized video produced contained so many skips and dropped frames, particular when transferring from a bright original, that it was unwatchable. I was never able to get drivers that would have allowed me to test it using Windows Movie Maker or Xsplit. Neither program could recognize the device.
Overall, it was disappointing.

glitchy video

The sound would not properly transfer. We tried on two different computers still did not work. It is not user friendly and has no manual with it. There is no tech support. I would not recommend this product.

Problem with sound

I have a desktop with windows 8 64 bit. A notebook with windows 7 64 bit. It won't work with either one. Internet search says it won't work with 64 bit systems.

this is the second one i have purchased this year, the first one just stopped working. Too expensive to keep purchasing everytime it fails. When it functions correctly it works very well.

poor product construction

I connected my VCR to my new laptop running 64-bit Win 7. I began to record. Within a minute the PC crashed with a message it was shutting down to avoid being damaged.

I rebooted and relaunched. Twice. Both times the PC crashed.

This it the only time this PC has ever crashed, in spite of the heavy use I give it as a writer.

I returned the product.
