Twin Over Futon Premium Metal Bunk Bed, Black 4.7 5 6 6
My Boys Love It! I was looking for a reasonable bunk bed for my 7yr old and 3yr old. I must say, it was easy to put together with the tools are already included. The metal is very sturdy and it looks very nice in their room. The boys love the bed! The futon bottom is awesome, it's easy to convert into a full and back into the reclining position. I am extrmely impressed with the bed!! 06/12/2009
So Far So Good I ordered my bunk bed online, and I was very skeptical about getting one. Im 19 and my brother is 9, and unfortunately we must share a room until I move out sometime next year. I figured this would be a good suit for us, and plus our room is pretty large. (15x18).PROS: Even with the bed, its still plenty of space in here, the futon is great! Just makes a little crinkling noise when you first sit on it. I havent been able to pinpoint the issue. My brother loves sleeping at the top bunk, and this one is a much better choice than the Dorel brand walmart sells.CONS: This bed came in two fairly large heavy boxes that I struggled to get into the house by myself, and has a B'GILLION parts. The instructions are clear, and they give you the tools though. It took me four hours to get the bed completely finished. I was hoping it wouldnt take more than 2.5.Overall I reccommend this bed. Its very comfortable. Just make sure if you have people over 135 sleeping or sitting on the futon you buy the 8 inch or after sometime you'll start feeling the rails. Im eager to see if this one lasts as long for my brother as my first bunkbed did. (5 years). It doesnt feel kiddy at all...I refused to go for that. 01/16/2010
A great buy After 6 months, I feel I know this product well enough to give it an honest review.PROS:- Comes in two flat boxes which easily fit in the trunk of my sedan with the rear seat folded,- Sturdier than other metal bunks I've checked out,- Great height between lower and top bunk - my 6'3", 280lb son-in-law can sit comfortably.- Looks good - not as good as wood but doesn't look flimsy.- Ladders may be installed toward the front or the back of unit.CONS:- Takes a while to put together, comes in a gazillion pieces and you'll do well to have a drill with a hex bit.- Does wobble a bit when someone moves around or climbs onto top bunk, but no squeaking!- You have to physically move the unit away from the wall to recline the bottom into a bed.- With a futon mattress 8" or thicker, you'll have a hard time lifting the bed into a futon without first folding the futon mattress in half. It's still a lot easier to convert than other metal futon beds I've tried.- The ladder rungs are hard on the feet but we found a solution: we purchased a long strip of 3/4" self adhesive dense foam pipe insulation (in dark gray to match the furniture) from the hardware store for about $2 and cut it to fit the rungs. Took five minutes and works perfectly, and the insulation doesn't spin on the rungs.- There is no entry/exit cutout on top bunk so your kid will have to haul themselves over the top rail; my daughter hates that about it.Overall, it's a great purchase and I'd recommend it! 06/21/2010
Futon Bunk I purchased this bunk for my teenage son whose room is very small (roughly 10'x11'). Because of the small space, it was limited what we could do with his room. This bed is perfect, it fits great and he is able to entertain 3 friends while playing video games. It took about 2.5-3 hours to get the bed fully assembled. One thing I didn't like was that the ladder rails did not line up with the holes which left the ladder insecure. That was an easy fix by purchasing a drill bit and creating a hole so the ladder could be screwed into place. I went with the 8" futon mattress rather than the 6" because teenagers will use this and not small children who don't weigh much. I must warn you that with the 8" futon mattress you will not be able to lift the futon into upright position without having to remove the mattress because of the thickness. Over a few weeks the mattress will bend and flatten and you won't have to deal with taking it off and on. All in all...a great buy. 03/04/2010
