This "port liberator" is designed and built in a way so it just doesn't fit into some USB slots if the USB slot is, say, next to an AC adapter cable or some other port's cable. I've had this problem on two devices, including a Dell XPS, the only two devices on which I've sought to use this "port liberator". I bought three of these (including the A to B cable) since I needed a reliable USB hub that I hoped would more or less be self-powered, but I can't even confirm if it'll work as I think it should since I can't use it on the devices on which I need to use it on. (My Dell XPS has another USB port but there is no current driver for the root hub so only one USB port works.) And I've used other Tripp Lite products before, specifically, their sturdy power strips, and although I think they intended to make AC cables safe to trip over and pluck out of the power strip--a common occurrence if said AC cables are all over the floor--I began to have such unusual issues with the Tripp Lite equipment that I had to replace it with a different brand. For an example of unusual, once, I was in Beijing when someone I met managed to darken the entire street we live on in the US with a power outage because I, so to speak, "tripped" over her. I don't like a monolith of a thing, but I'm not sure if I should think that Tripp Lite's fast ability to change is funny or what. It was certainly an inconvenience to suffer a power outage on the street due to American slang.... 12/08/2012
