    Awesome Racing Bike !!!!

This is my very first racing bike that I bought for myself, because most of my older racing bikes I have had were either given to me or I had to assemble them by myself. I love assembling bikes from BMX to Racing bikes ever since I was a kid. Here I list all the positive that I see for this bike. 1. Can't beat the price...$399 + $32 tax online = $431, free shipping to home or store site. 2. Durable and lightweight. Aluminum for everything and carbon fiber for the fork. 3. Weighs less than 19 lbs with everything assembled. 4. This is 52cm for the size: good for 5'4 to 5'10 heights of people. 5. Both rims comes with the RED RIM TAPE which I can show you the pictures I uploaded here. I know I read previous review about having no rim tapes causing them to blow the inner tubes. But with mine they come with it. So no problem on blowing the tubes. 6. 3 crankshaft gears for the front (52 teeth on the biggest), and 8 cassette gears at the rear. Equals to 8 x 3 = 24 speeds. Both Shimano front and rear derailleurs. 7. Very happy with this bike. Did not spend so much, and can be compared to a $1200 other road bikes out there.

After reading all the reviews I was still skeptical about purchasing this, however I did it, and I'm 100% satisfied. Out of the box, this bike is extremely easy to assemble, and for the most part ready to ride, it required very little tuning for the shifters. I knew it would fit me by reading the reviews. I'm 5'7 and it fits me perfectly. I've put about 300 miles on this bike and have done hill sprints and flat sprint exercises and it handled them very well.

I've been riding the bike almost daily, around 10 miles a trip, for about a month now, and it's a very solid machine. I took it to a bike shop to have the assembly looked over (it comes 2/3 assembled out of the box) and other than a few minor adjustments it met my expectations. I'm very new to the road bike scene, and I know that there are road bikes that run in the thousands+ but as of right now I couldn't immediately tell you the difference between this and any other bike out there. After reading previous reviews, I could see ditching the plastic pedals for a more durable option. Also, I've had to wrap the ends of the handlebars with electrical tape to keep the insulation from unwinding. From what I've read, this can be a fairly typical problem with most handlebars. Without a doubt, this bike is the best available ride for beginner riders on a budget. I'm sure I'll pony up one day for a cannondale or something else, but at the current rate it won't be for a few years.

Resonably priced women's road bikes are very hard to find. I want to START biking. Would this be a good start for me? Of all the height questions I read, I do think it's a good size for me at 5'5".

    • A. my wife who is 5'1" was tempted to settle for this bike (order one just like mine) because she liked it so much. I would have gotten her. If you are 5.5.. you maybe ok. I am 5.7.. and fits perfect. distance from the ground to the top of the Top tube where your crotch will be is 30 inches. If you can clear that, you're ok. Go to Walmart and measure and sit on their bikes, then decide.

    • A. You are right. You need a 46 to 48 cm frame. Try bikesdirect.com - navigate to the roadbike you like - price and features. Or search for a "Terry Bike" engineered for a women, but a little more expensive. Do a search on Ebay and Amazon too for road bikes and add the frame size in cm, 46 and 48. good luck - there are some good values - even a lady who specializes in smaller bikes on ebay out of Florida. Seek by searching and you will find!

    • A. You need to make sure the frame size is a good fit. It has a 52cm frame. Use the online road bike frame calculator to determine if it would be a good fit for you. http://www.ebicycles.com/bicycle-tools/frame-sizer/road-bike

    • A. Yes! My wife is around 5'4" and I let her use it, I just have to adjust the seat down. For her reach to the handlebars, she is comfortable too. She likes going fast with this bike also, because of the tires are thin: size is 700c x 25c. Very slick bike. We know you going to love this bike too.

I've seen a lot of different answers in regards to size. I'm 5' 8.5" and 30.5" inseam, would this bike fit me? Can't really go to a store to try it for size since the closest stocked store is like 3 hours away...
    by bob78h 8/1/2010
    6 answers
    • A. You are perfect for the bike with your inseam of 29 to 30 inches (measure tape between legs - floor to crotch - normal stance. Stem is perfect length for your height too. the frame sais 52cm, but is really a 54cm because it has a compact frame and the standover height (frame size) is measured slightly differently. Take advantage of this great price!! Upgrade tires later - even wheels too. Add clipless pedals and shoes to get the full pleasure of riding this bike and add your favorite syle of seat later too.

    • A. According to the sizing chart at www.neilprydebikes.com, this won't be too small for you by any means. It may, however, be just slightly too big. According to the measurements you have given, the proper frame size for you would be a 51". This bike is only available as a 52" frame. If you can't go to a Walmart, see if a friend might have a 52" frame bike that you could use for sizing. Straddle the bike and then lift the front wheel off the ground by pulling up on the handle bars. If you can lift the wheel 1 to 2 inches, this bike should fit you just fine.

    • A. It should. According to an online bike calculator, your optimum size is a 53cm frame... only thing is, most bike manufacturers don't make a 53cm frame! It said that you should consider a 52cm frame (the size of this bike) or a 54cm frame. Try it! If it is not the right size, you can still return it to a local Walmart store. It is an outstanding value! Here's a link to a road bike frame size calculator http://www.ebicycles.com/bicycle-tools/frame-sizer/road-bike
