I am able to backup without changing the format. I left it as NTFS and for my Windows PC (Windows 8) I backup using File History (settings are in Control Panel) and on the Mac (Mac OS X 10.5) I use Time Machine.

It gets power from the laptop or pc when you plug it to the usb port.

I use this to backup both my Mac G4 with Mac OS X 10.5, and my Windows 8.1 PC, works great.

I don't use the software that came with the drive, just what is included with Mac OS X and Windows 8.

Was hoping it would also work with my FTA satellite receiver, but no luck. I think it's actually a software limitation of the satellite receiver, X2 Premium HD II.

Works great with my Mac and PC

After just a few games and dlc's and updates, we were already out of space on our Xbox one. Anyone who plays a lot of games and doesn't want to delete them in order to play a new game should really get this hard drive. It was super easy to hookup and use. Took less than a minute to connect of the One, and another minute or 2 to figure out how to work it. We were downloading our saved games within 5 minutes, and it downloads fast! Also since we have 2 XboxOne's we only have to download new dlc's once to the drive, then switch it to our other One and Copy (not Move) it and it's done. No need to double download (takes so long!). You will still have to purchase the DLC though. Really recommend this hard drive, even if your not tech savvy you'll figure it out in no time!

Super easy to use with the Xbox One

Plugged the unit in and it loaded by itself, did not need to insert disk. Really liked the amount of ventilation ports to stop over heating as this is usually what causes them to fail. If I need another this would be my choice.

This unit was very easy to setup. I used it to add 3TB of storage space to my Xbox One. I worked great. Plugged it in to the console & formatted, that was it.

Great product

I buy almost every game for Xbox One digitally so I bought this external drive for extra storage. After 2 weeks of use I have to say it's working really well. Games move pretty quickly for how big some of the games are. Also for the price it's almost a steal.

Pros
- $100 is a solid deal for 3TB
- Small and sleek device for easy setup and travel

Cons
- It comes with a short USB cable. For normal PC use it probably won't be a big deal but I wish it was a tad longer for what I use it for.

Great Xbox One storage device.

Needed a large external HD on a dial up budget and this fit the bill perfectly. So far no issues, planning on another purchase soon.

Great hard drive for more space

It is taking a little getting used to. The connection seems to malfunction at times. I am learning how to deal with that.

It's okay but I like my seagate 3T better.

This is a great drive and the transfer rate is fast. The biggest problem is the first one I got from the store I ran a scan on and the hard drive was only 2tb. I used a program that gave me the make and model of the drive inside the enclosure. I exchanged it at walmart no problem and the new drive is the correct size. Beware.

Great drive but big problem

I use the External Drive as a back up for my Pictures... as an avid photographer I have literally thousands of pictures and have not filled it up yet.

The 1st few month's it worked fine, then one day, I plugged it into another pc to back it up, and heard this 'clicking sound', from which it never functioned right again... My documentation and other files were lost...
