LOVE this laptop.... However I have only had it for about three days... Runs very nice stays cool unlike my other laptop i had which was a HP it always blew hot air out this one blows cold air out AWESOME lol The only "problem" so to say I have with it is the Camera I personally think it's a little dark...I have messed around with the settings and still found it to be a little dark. But like i said i have only had it a few days so I'm sure I have yet to learn some things. It has this really cool Face Recognition where you can register your face to automatically log into the computer =) overall GREAT product for $505 got a great laptop plus a 2 year protection plan that includes accidental spills as well how could you go wrong? you can't

Liked that the computer was pretty much ready to go out of the box. Really lightweight compared to other laptops but I believe the casing is made of plastic versus metal on them. The only things I don't like are the Norton and the touchpad. Norton always comes up as at risk no matter what I do. For such a large keyboard area, the touchpad is way over to the left so you always feel funny when you use it. It is also not very sensitive so I always feel like I am pushing way too hard to get the arrow to move. It does not come with any repair, backup, or restore disks so if you want those it has an application to make them. It took about 7 disks to get them all made so be prepared for that.

I love my new Laptop,I have had no problems. People are saying the Webcam is dark and gritty, Make sure you take off the film protector and go into advanced option and check night and mess around with your contrast, brightness etc. I have mine all setup and it works great and takes great pics and video. I would recomend this laptop to all my friends and family.

Great Value

Bought two of these laptops about 2 months ago and have been very pleased with them. We bought them for the kids to play online games with us on and have been pleasantly surprised. No-mess connectivity with wireless home network, plays WoW without any problems (better than my old desktop, in fact) and have yet to find anything that an 8-year-old can't do without needing help. If you are looking for an excellent value on an entry-level laptop with low-maintenance, this is it. I would only spend more if you want high-speed graphics capabilities or obsessive multi-tasking. Most basic users will be very pleased with this machine.

second laptop

This was my second laptop that I purchased from Walmart. The first one was the Compaq and the scrren cracked....I like the key pad on the Toshiba. Also, the webcam is a little blurry, and when I try to adjust volume from keyboard, I don't think it quite works. It says 6hrs of battery life, but I only get three. For the price I paid, it will do for now, but I plan to upgrade DEFINITELY in the future....may be good for someone's first laptop. Easy set up when you turn it on though...

I've owned my computer fo ra short period of time now, and I can't say anything but good things about it. I purchased th wireless mouse to move around faster on the computer. I think the price was well worth what I paid for. I would suggest this computer to anyone who want a computer for simple home use, checking email, school papers, this is for you. It also has great programs installed for you.

My 3rd Toshiba Computer

This is my 3rd one. The loyalty goes to the customer service. On my first one, I had to call them because my computer crashed. I called Toshiba, although I have no warranty, he gave me some suggestions to troble shoot, said if I can get my laptop fixed this way, I do not have to pay for support. The suggestion worked, and I told him I will buy from them again and again. I have similar experience with other leading brand, call got routed overseas and service is just OK. Toshiba's call was to US tech support.

A Good Value, Needs An Upgrade
3/20/2011

I bought this a couple days ago for my mom, after her Dell died. She plays with Facebook, does a little bit of Bookkeeping and Tax work and other general office stuff. It's good for all that. The Good: The price is excellent at $400. More RAM than I expected. Bright, clear LCD. 10-key pad. I love wide-screens. 4-in-1 card reader Decent-sized hard drive. So, this machine runs pretty well. The AMD E-Series is a low-end single-core CPU but, it's perfectly fine for mom to play online and do people's taxes with. She's had it about a week now and hasn't run into anything that made it lag out or stutter in any way. Playing the dumb little Facebook games hasn't even taxed it yet. It came with 3GB of RAM, which is more than I'd guess a cheap machine to have. The M$ recommendation for Windows 7 is 2GB and the minimum is 1GB so, that's not too bad. I'll probably still buy another 4GB next week. That's no big thing to me. The screen is EXCELLENT for the cost! It's nice and bright and very easy to read. Everything is wide-screen now but, I still love them. I didn't read about it having a built-in 10-key online but, it's a great thing for someone that deals with numbers constantly. She said it works nicely. The card reader is good, even now you have trouble finding a low-end system that has one. It just took me a few minutes to figure out where it's at. Look under the touch-pad on the front. Mom's 62, she's never downloaded a movie and hasn't downloaded that much music. The 250GB HD is the perfect size. I noticed when I was copying stuff off of her old HD that she had about 200 songs and around 3000 pictures. I don't see her being able to fill up this drive any time soon. The Bad: The case seems a little cheap but, it's a $400 laptop so, that's expected. The keyboard is a little strange to type on. Only two USB ports. Old-style DVD-RW, instead of slot loading. Still needs a RAM upgrade. No external volume controls. The first thing I noticed at the store was that the case feels kind of cheap but, it's not an expensive machine. I don't expect it to have an aluminum bezel or external volume controls for that price. It's a little annoying but, not a big thing to me. I didn't like the keyboard at first. You know how most laptops have a slightly raised keyboard? This one is almost completely flat. That was a little weird the first time I typed on it but, I got it. Mom's only complaint is that she has to press a little bit harder than she's used to. That's annoying. Know the last time I saw a new laptop with only two USB ports? It was about 2002. That's just poor form on Toshiba's part. I know it wouldn't have cost them but an extra $5 to put four ports on it, like everyone else. That said, I'm going to get her a USB Hub later. Most laptops come with a slot load CD drive now. This thing still has a tray. The worrisome thing is that you'll either damage the lens or break the tray being careless. So, back to having to pay attention when putting in a CD instead of just sliding it in the hole on the side. This is a $400 machine so, it's going to need a RAM upgrade. As I said, 3GB is more than the M$ recommended specs, however, when you start multi-tasking it'll still lag a little bit. I found a 4GB stick at Fry's for $18 after rebates. I'll get that next week and won't have to worry. The only way to adjust the volume is to hold the FN key and press 3 or 4. I haven't owned a machine that did that in several years. Summary: It's a good machine for the cost. I don't care for the case too much but, we can deal. The screen is good. It's CPU is fine for the use it'll get. I'd buy another one but, not for me to use. I have a Dual-Core Turion and use Linux.
