I have no idea what the other reviewer is talking about unless he really had no idea what he was buying. I got my 335SE almost a year ago to replace my TomTom ONE that finally died. Not only was the price right ($70 on sale) but it was a substantial upgrade over the ONE. It provides the overview of the route, the turn by turn directions (in 2d or 3d), multiple colors for day or evening use, and traffic cam warnings. I can take it's IQ route suggestion or easily program in my own corrections. It can also be used for walking. About the only thing I'm not crazy about is it is very hard to get the car outlet to plug into the unit. Otherwise a teriffic basic GPS.

This is a cool little GPS for the price. I needed one real fast, just something cheep. I got to a Wal-mart and found this one. Easy to set up. I had it running in in about 2 min. and I was on my way. Been using it everyday since. Works great, even better then my iPhone that I use to use all the time. I love it!

The look of this device is fair, does not look too fancy neither too cheap.. There are several flaws about this device that are a major problem for those of us who use it often.. It constantly needs to be updated or it will start acting up, It usually gives you the longest routes to you destination while having short cuts and other crossover roads that may direct you to your destination sooner and much easier. Screen; is soft plastic that feels as if you press with some pressure your finger may go thru the screen. But yet you still have to put some pressure to input your info.. The GPS holder is too flimsy and breaks easy.. Another issue is one that is hard to deal with.. That it has a few kilobytes of internal memory and due to frequent updates and other needed information will soon fill its memory and will have to changing software and maps using your computer to do such changes.. What a hassle and unpractical program... Good luck if you plan on going for this thing... I learned this a little too after my 30 day warranty expired.. It does take time to maneuver this device..

I have used my older TOMTOM One for years, bought it at a RadioShack for over $200..[yeah thats a long time ago]..so now This tomtom arrived fast, I really did read the small manual, and you guessed it, you do not have to at all. The first time you start it, be in your car, suv etc...plug it in, put on windshield, tomtom got this right, it really sticks and stays on the glass, the start up screen will walk you through every step. NB. do not click on all the icons offered for the screen, meaning only click on police stations and hospitals, not diners and movie theaters the screen will be clogged with symbols...the unit found gps in the sky fast, the female voice tries so hard to pronounce the street names well, and she is fine...the graphics are great, clear and well seen on this screen. I bought this july 2012 for $79. NOT a REFERB....nice..would I buy it again ,,sure.

I bought my unit on Black Friday 2010 aas a gift for my wife, she didn't like it. I traded her my Garmin for it It was used very little and stored in the house. I got it out to use one day and it would not start up, it just had a red X on the screen. I returned it to Tomtom for replacment and recieved a refurnished a few days later. The tech support people were very helpfuf and professional. The new one works but has a different menu system. It will not display the map with the direction of travel at the top. It will not allow you to enter latitude and longitude coordinates . It does not show your elevation above sea level. The screen is very hard to see in daylight The voice is not loud enough to hear well in a moving car. I wish I had not purchased this model. In fairness a friend at work has a Tomtom 130 and is pleased with it. I plan to put it on craig's list and be rid of it. My next GPS will not be a Tomtom.

I know shorter ways to get to my destinations. I have had one update, i would like to learn more about adding my information for s. illinois. I am in a VERY near time to get from Illinois, to missiori without being late. Currently, i notice my Tom Tom being just a bit late for a turn, or way to early. I love my homer simpson voice, How can i help to rename routes, names of buisneses? I try pretrip options, but some of these are well over 7hrs. long to just get there. how can i use a faster pretrip!!?? BUT w/o Tom Tom, It "should" be short of 9hrs.? im not sure how confident i can be w/tom tom when time for arival is very inportant? i love it for where i know the city i am going to be in, it does try to make me go longer distances? Again, When i need to be on time for a state i have selected plus NOT KNOWING the state at all, the correct address, I HAVE TO BE ON TIME?! As of now, im using TomTom in cities wich i am most comfortable ? i love the product! but i worry at times, am i, will i be on time? are street names spoken? havent been able to get that option?

Our youngest daughter bought a Tom Tom XL 335S for us for Christmas. Our oldest daughter Emily lives in the burbs N E of Detroit and we live in Toledo. We were using the Tom Tom more as a training run to Emily's house and we had her address as the destination when we came to this huge traffic Jam on I 75 N in the middle of Detroit. We left I 75 and the Tom Tom immediately rerouted us over city streets to I-94 E saving us much time in finishing our trip. On the way home we missed the I-94 W to I-75 S interchange because we were in the middle of a blizzard. We went West on I-96 (which was wrong) and were lost. We got out the Tom Tom which immediately acquired. We punched in home for destination and the Tom Tom guided us back to I-75 and our route home. It has so far been 100% accurate. We really like it and not just because it saved us twice in Detroit.

Bad Experience With Gift

Registered the product as instructed and purchased the map updating service. Received the first email regarding updated maps. I proceeded to start the download (12 hours!!!). The download quit after 10 hours. When I went to test the GPS I got message NO MAPS FOUND. I checked the web site for assistance. I have been able to clean-up the device and reload software but for maps no such luck. The GPS device now sits in the drawer to collect dust. The other bad experience that I have had is the invoice. The invoice arrived in both French and English. (I know Canada has two languages). But to produce an invoice that the first part is in English (i.e name and address etc.) and the body of the invoice with details of the purchase in French is of no use. Take a look an the way APPLE does their invoices. One in English and one in French.

I gave my wife the TomTom for a Christmas gift. I own a Magellan that we've both used & been happy with. Right away she complained of how different/difficult it was to use. I suggested we switch so I could see for myself if there was really that much difference in the two units. I struggled with different features of the TomTom, like saving a current location to the "favorites", but with time I figured out the little differences that were peculiar to the TomTom. The TomTom worked pretty well as I used it in the metro Atlanta area, but on a recent trip to Florida I set the TomTom on the dash next to the Magellan. HUGE difference! On four different occasions the TomTom just lost it's mind & all reference to the road we were traveling. Complete FAIL. Thank goodness we had the Magellan, because we did not take a back up map.

I really enjoy my TomTom XL. For nearly a year, I have used it without any issues. Until the last 2 times I've updated my device, I've run Into software operation problems. Ex., Can't find Satallites and freezes up at start-up or just after going to use mode, (resets itself or I have to do it manually by powering off). This unit is only 1 year old and I've kept it updated regularly. Ever since entering my Lifetime map up grade, I've run into problems. The only feature This unit does not have that I would like to see, is a way to mark and label your immediate position so you can find your way back to that spot with the gps assistance. My camping lot is not on a labelled street (County Address), the roads are shown on the gps, but because it doesn't have an address number, you can't label it in the gps.
