Rated 4 out of 5★ by tazdavid good but not best After using the Tom gravel cleaning siphon I would say it did a decent job as to what I wanted it for, which was mainly to clean the gravel of debris and waste. It took a little bit before I figured out what helped it work better, which was to tap the end of the tool against the gravel and that made the debris kick up and was drawn into the siphon. After I was done I noticed a bunch of stuff accumulated in the net and was easily disposed. The suction was not very strong, but just enough to do the job after realizing that you should tap against the gravel to loosen up the debris. 03/05/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by PurplePonyDoc Gets the job done I had researched gravel cleaners before purchasing, and this one is not without it's known flaws. The power button only worked once, now I have to screw and un-screw the cap on to turn it on and off. I watched a great video online about the best way to modify the cup with tape to help it get more suction. We did just that, and it works like a charm. We use it to clean the sand in our turtle tank, and it does suck up some sand, but not much. We use Walmart's 33 cent knee highs instead of the sock it came with, then just throw them away after each cleaning. It will pick up food chunks, gunk and did a nice job and suctioning the potting soil out when our large turtle knocked a plant into the water. We even paid for express shipping, so the cost was a bit higher then average, but for the price we paid... this thing works great! 02/20/2013
Rated 3 out of 5★ by DyingStar Does what it's suppose to... Sort of. My only complaint is the suction isn't that great. I guess that's a pretty big one seeing as this is a vacuum. But... It works for quick cleanups when not doing a water change, and that makes it worth the $12. I'm going to play around with some small, non-invasive mods to see if I can improve the suction. 12/16/2012

Rated 1 out of 5★ by Gianni24 Good Idea, but not made well Very flimsy. It starts and stops depending on the angle I hold it at. If any moisture gets into the battery area it will completely stop until it is dried out. A shame the design and concept is great, but the motor is beyond cheap. I'd rather pay a little more and set something that works longer than a week.On the upside I can still use this. It hooks up to my hose connected to the sink. I can also take the cloth sock off and vacuum with the regular gravel vac, then toss the water back in. 09/12/2013
Rated 1 out of 5★ by Shopper34 Did not work. Do not buy. Unfortunately this product operated for a total of one minute, then it chugged a bit, and would not pull the water/sediment into the tube. Then the motor stopped working. Brand new batteries and no clogs. Would have liked a product like this. Guess it was too good to be true. 03/17/2014
