A kayak accident during a South American adventure takes one woman to heaven -- where she experienced God's peace, joy, and angels -- and back to life again.

In 1999 in the Los Rios region of southern Chile, orthopedic surgeon, devoted wife, and loving mother Dr. Mary Neal drowned in a kayak accident. While cascading down a waterfall, her kayak became pinned at the bottom and she was immediately and completely submerged. Despite the rescue efforts of her companions, Mary was underwater for too long, and as a result, died.
"To Heaven and Back" is Mary's remarkable story of her life's spiritual journey and what happened as she moved from life to death to eternal life, and back again. Detailing her feelings and surroundings in heaven, her communication with angels, and her deep sense of sadness when she realized it wasn't her time, Mary shares the captivating experience of her modern-day miracle.
Mary's life has been forever changed by her newfound understanding of her purpose on earth, her awareness of God, her closer relationship with Jesus, and her personal spiritual journey suddenly enhanced by a first-hand experience in heaven. Book description

A kayak accident during a South American adventure takes one woman to heaven — where she experienced God’s peace, joy, and angels — and back to life again.

To Heaven and Back is Mary’s remarkable story of her life’s spiritual journey and what happened as she moved from life to death to eternal life, and back again. Detailing her feelings and surroundings in heaven, her communication with angels, and her deep sense of sadness when she realized it wasn’t her time, Mary shares the captivating experience of her modern-day miracle.

Mary’s life has been forever changed by her newfound understanding of her purpose on earth, her awareness of God, her closer relationship with Jesus, and her personal spiritual journey suddenly enhanced by a first-hand experience in heaven. To Heaven and Back will reacquaint you with the hope, wonder, and promise of heaven, while enriching you own faith and walk with God.

Customer Product Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5★ by 7reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5★ by I am only halfway through this book and find it very moving. Rainbow Girl pretty much talked down this book regarding editing and typographical errors. I find no typographical errors and considering the intelligence of the author, her intellectual writing fits with her life experiences. This author should not be judged from those who have not experienced what she has gone through or even dealing with the recent loss of a loved one as I have. Wondering what your loved one sees during their final hours, minutes of life and seeing what is ahead for them in eternity is comforting. People should not be so judgmental. 10/11/2012
Rated 3 out of 5★ by Title not accurate An interesting book, however, it is more about the author's spiritual growth than it is about a trip to Heaven. She didn't really go to Heaven. She had some very vivid spiritual experiences, but the title does not fit the narrative. In addition, the editing is awful and there are many typographical errors. I was very disappointed in this book 06/24/2012
Rated 5 out of 5★ by I thought it was going to be hardcover! 09/24/2013
Rated 3 out of 5★ by Raises some strong spiritual questions... This story is not about what heaven is like, or even angels. It is one person's spiritual journey told by snapshots of events in her life, most of them tragic or traumatic to some degree. However, at some points in the book it raises some very strong, relevant and interesting spiritual questions to help one grow in their own faith ... if only they choose to 'listen'. 12/05/2012
