The best non-clumping litter

This litter controls odor better than any other brand. I dispose of soiled litter and disinfect the box, which aids in keeping the cats healthy. Sifting through soiled litter to dig out clumps doesn't appeal to me.

I bought this product off a Walmart wishlist for a family on WishUponAHero. It's what this family chooses to use. It's their product of choice.

  • I volunteer in a few cat shelters and using the "non-clumping" is best for kittens (they tend to eat litter when small and clumping can wreak havoc on their stomachs). I use it in my multi-cat home with Tidy Cat clumping litter so I can stretch out my litter needs by mixing it together, helps litter last longer and is cost effective too. Hope this helps out Rick.

  • I prefer non clumping because when the cat gets the clumping one wet and goes in again he inevitably steps on it. When I would go to scoop the clumping one it breaks apart. I like the non clumping as you just scoop it all out with scooper and no mess for the cat. It does clump somewhat and removal is easy.

  • Clumping litter can be messy, sticky, & unhealthy to the cats. The clumping action makes it stick to the cat's paws. They track it all over, & then try to lick that unhealthy stuff off their paws & swallow it. Some clumping brands work better than others. I find this stuff clumps as good as some of those so called clumping brands, but not too much so it sticks to their paws. I can scoop the poo out without a problem. If I wait a few hours after they wet in it so it soaks into the litter well, I can push the dry litter away from the wet spot with the scooper, & carefully scoop most of it out with a wide paint scraper or putty knife. So for me, doing it my way, this is better than the clumping litter.

  • Easier to sift through non-clumping litter to clean..I find that it tends to dry faster and keeps the odor down.

  • Depends on what you prefer. Each time the cat wets the litter forms a clump. When you remove it from the box, you are decreasing the volume of litter. And after a bit, you then have to top off the box with fresh litter. With nonclumping, you basically only take out the "solids" and the urine is absorbed into the clay litter. I use the nonclumping and change out the litter every week or two. Forces me to also wash out the litter box. My cats seem to prefer it.
