Was a little confused by product information. Doesn't say if this bike in particular has a freely turning rear gear or not while saying that most of these bikes do.

  • A. This bike does have a freewheel. Actually it has both a freewheel and a fixed sprocket. They're on opposite sides of the same rear wheel. Just position the rear wheel with the gear option you prefer on the side of the bike with the chain.

  • A. This bike comes with a "flip flop hub". It comes with the rear wheel able to freewheel. If you want it as a fixie, you flop the hub over.

  • A. Yes. Specifically it has two cogs, one side freewheels and the other is true "fixie" so you can take the rear wheel of and reverse it.

  • A. Yes. This bike has a sprocket on each side of the rear hub. One side will allow you to free wheel and the other one will allow you to ride at a fixed speed. Meaning that you can pedal forwards or pedal backwards.

Single mom of three here. What's most important to me: Quality, Ease and Value! This transaction has it all! We ordered the bike for the price. We expected it in about two weeks. It came in less than one. It was in a box.. I am sure somewhere it said 'some assembly required' but might I suggest you bold it from now on so others are prepared with tools! LOL Anyways, easy to put together for my son and I.. we rode around the neighborhod THAT night! Took to the trails the next day for 17 miles! It was fabulous. We did have to stop by a local Walmart to have them set the brakes because we didn't' have the proper tools however, that is not a complaint. The bike assembler happened to be on duty that day. The deal was worth it. I am going to buy two more of these in different colors. Another one for me (mine's three years old) and one for my son to take to college this fall! Thank you online Walmart.. I Yelped you 5 STARS!!!

Great Fixie or any Road Bike for a Beginner!

This is a long review but I want to share my experience with you. You either love the way it looks or hate it? I wasn't too attracted to color scheme but I was looking to getting back into cycling. More importantly, on a budget! Here is a little background on me. I am 5'9" 250 lbs. I got on a health kick a few years ago and enjoyed using some spinning machines at the local rec center. Running hurts my knees so I decided to take the plunge and buy a road bike from a bike shop. After weeks of research and countless trips to the bike shops for test rides and info. I bought the cheapest entry level road bike I could (ie. last years model, last one in that size, scratch and dent, etc.) it was around $525 and lucky for me the owner threw in a set of pedals from a used bike. That is dirt cheap for an entry level road bike folks. It was a Trek Alpha 1.0 54 cm and it was great! Well, life got busy and I had a bike setting in the garage that I wasn't using so I sold it. I got nearly what I paid for it so I didn't lose much luckily. Now what does that have to do with this bike. EVERYTHING! In case life gets in the way again I will only have $100 setting in the garage instead of over $500 collecting dust. So why did I pick this bike? It's a Fixie Road Bike for $100! If you buy any cheap road bike and I mean ANYTHING under the $500-$600 mark you are buying heavy frames with junk components. They are heavy and don't shift very well. This bike is NOT light weight either! But it is very comfortable and you are not paying for those unreliable clunky gears. I have ridden/owned/returned the GMC Denali 700c and the Ozone Vitesse 700c Road Bikes and this bike is nearly half the price and much better! A majority of reviews you will read about this bike are recommending you to go on craigslist and buy a vintage road bike and fix it up. If you are a beginner, this could be a huge mistake! At $250-$300 for a used road bike and then whatever it may take to fix it you will be up to $500 in no time! Not to mention you are not looking within the same budget! Another thing a lot of reviews have said is that the bikes wheels were not true (warped) and that the tires were flat. The brakes weren't adjusted and other assembly complaints. Every bike I have ever purchased had flat tires when I bought it. I got a pump off the shelf, inflated to tires to the specifications according to the sidewall on the tire, (in this case 60 psi) and was on my way. My brakes were fine. It's Wal-Mart folks if you hate it, keep your receipt and take it back! Enough about reasons to buy it. Here's what you get! And, well, don't get. -The bike is built sturdy with a 250 lb weight limit (most road bikes are for 175 lb riders tops or they will want to build you special wheels to support you weight) -The saddle (or seat) is pretty comfortable. Don't buy some big huge padded seat! Invest in padded bike shorts if you plan on a long ride! Also seat height is wrong on nearly every new cyclist. -The brakes are standard -The pedals are a cheap soft plastic. Get you some toe clips! $10 at your bike shop. THESE WILL HELP YOU A LOT! You will have to drill into these pedals to mount them or replace the pedals with a higher end pedal to add the toe straps. PROS: -Value plain and simple. This bike was built on a budget. You are not getting carbon fiber! You are getting a heck of a deal on an entry level road bike! The closest thing I could find was the bikes mentioned above at $169 and this thing is over the top better. -Weight Capacity. As I mentioned before road bikes are built for people 175 lbs and under unless you plan on beefing up your wheels. I was told this by every cyclist that I know. Upgrading your wheels is an extra $100-$200. Yeah Ouch! CONS: -There is nowhere to mount a water bottle cage? That's kinda standard? -No good place for smartphone mounts, aero bars, or other goodies. -Appearance. This thing looks terrible. Mismatched tires? Not really my thing but to each his own. -Some components are plastic, like the brake levers and pedals. -Weight. This bike is heavy. Every bike in this price range is but it is a con. -Frame size. One size fits some. SUMMARY If you are looking to getting into cycling you can't really go wrong here. Cycling is expensive! Ebay and consignment shops are your best friend if you are a bargain hunter! It's a $100 bike. If you don't like it return it within 90 days or whatever the return policy is or at the worst case scenario is you are out $100. Most gyms charge close to that for a start up fee. Or if you love it and want to upgrade go get something better! First, go to your local bike shop (and I don't mean a big box store) and get fitted for a bike. If you have never been to one you may be surprised to see a $10,000 bike. I sure was! They will give you the info to make an educated purchase. The most important thing for a bike is the size of the bike. This is where the bike shops have the advantage. Higher end bike frames come in different sizes just like pants and shirts. Unfortunately, the Thruster is just one size. Seat height and how to actually pedal is great info too! Whatever your decision is whether to buy this bike or anything else, be sure to take safety precautions. Keep the rubber side down. Be safe and have fun!

I have only ridden 5 miles on this so far, but I really like it. It's my first fixie, so I don't know what to expect, but this bike isn't bad. It seem fairly sturdy and reliable. Honestly it will probably end up being an extremely well-spent $100. I ride a lot, and I'm excited about riding this fixie now. It isn't a professional-level bike, but it has good qualities, and it is probably the best bike you could get anywhere for the price. I will probably tune mine up a bit, put a bigger chain ring on the front, maybe get metal petals and toe clips, maybe a harder seat, as is my preference...but I would end up doing those things on any bike. I don't know about durability, since I haven't ridden it all that much. I know some other people were complaining about their tires, but mine have been all good and sturdy. I also got it in the store, so there wasn't really much to do as far as set up. In the end, I haven't ridden on it much so far, but I think it is definitely worth the price!
