To Buy or Not To Buy--Up to You Review When I first got this game, I had Windows Vista and was unable to play it due to it lagging, now that I've upgraded to Windows 7, I can play it perfectly. Let's start with the basics:~Many reviewers are correct in stating that the graphics are a tad glitchy. When you pan out and pan back in, it takes a while for the game to realize you've zoomed in. (I thought this was just my laptop issue, apparently not).**In Sims3, sims tend to "magically" appear in their cars and in stores and communities that we cannot see them go into or do versus sims2. This is called "Rabbit Holes"--(where we cannot see them enter the shops) annoying, but given the wide variety of things to do, it's tolerable (to some)~There is not much (if any) content as far as hair, clothing, and objects go. The fact that EA requires us to purchase extra items off their website is a bit ludicrous given the amount of $$ we pay for the game itself.**Sims2 gave you MANY objects. I would say that even though Sim3 is definitely lagging in this department, it allows you to custom color EVERYTHING to any shade, fabric, texture, what have you. Imagine being given 10 items (each different in structure...rather dull in color initially) and you being able to choose the fabric, texture, and colors. Great addition, but still...more objects (especially clothing and hair--which you can change too) would have been great.~The Game itself is 4/5 stars. There are many things missing that were present in the sims2, but at least here, you can actually visit your neighbors without having to play your neighbor. You can't enter (or even see into your neighbors' houses) without being "Invited Inside" by them. Sims3 is more realistic social-wise, and the large span of neighborhood and career opportunities is amazing! You get to do things outside of work, FOR work.**(Example: I was in law enforcement and had to do undercover work, rummage through trash, and interrogate people (all on my OWN time, so I got to see the sim do it etc) and write up reports on people.) There are many community activities and weekly events. You can attend classes (via Rabbit Hole interaction), collect items, fish, learn new recipes (by actually reading recipe books and not just upgrading cooking skill) and your sim has the ability to notice certain things (like when you upgrade from a crummy t.v. to a flatscreen, they notice the picture quality is superb).~OVERALL:I know this review was long, but I wanted to incorporate a few examples so that you can get the gist of the game and decide for yourself if you want to purchase it. I love the Sims series, and while Sims2 had many objects and sims didn't (always) magically appear to do things, the Sims3 has expanded socially. I love the fact that you can choose to have a baby at home, or in the hospital (a rabbit hole), but even when your sim enters a rabbit hole community dwelling, you can still HEAR everything. Like when a child goes to school, you hear the teacher writing on the board etc...the Military Base is HILARIOUS). I like this game, and while it IS a tiny step back graphic wise, keep in mind, that this is a computer game and not on a game console (Yet! Soon to be released), so depending on your computer, the graphics can be better...or worse.I recommend going to:http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyrito see if your PC or Mac is capable of running such a complex game. When I had Vista, it told me I couldn't, and I tried and of course it lagged and froze, but now that I have Windows7, I am WAY over the requirements and can run it (As perfectly) as the game makers have allowed. It is a safe site, do not worry. Enjoy! And sorry for the chapter book review haha. 06/18/2010
AWESOME! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this game!! It is extremely fun and no it does not get "boring" after a few minutes of play. I have been playing the Sims since the first one and have loved them all. They are all fun. People complaining about lagging and graphics need to stop telling people not to buy it. It will not lag on EVERYONE'S computer. You need to make sure you have enough space to run it on. And if you just barely have enough, of course it will lag. As for the small amount of hair styles and clothing, TheSims3.com has FREE hairstyles and clothing that you can download to the game. I would definately recommend this game to everyone IF you have enough space on your computer to run and play it! (I do not have an expensive gaming computer and it runs just fine on it! Woot, woot. I have to say, that this is one of the greatest Sims achievements ever. Not even kidding. At first I was kind of iffy about getting the game, thinking I should wait till I'm sure it'll be worth it. Well, four of my friends currently own Sims 3, and all their opinions are pretty much the same. It's amazing, it's epic, best Sims game yet, totally worth it. So I decide, well, I'll try it. If I don't like it, I'll just give it to my other friend who's been saving up for it. So I get it, install it, amazed at all the changes they've made. No more waiting like five minutes to get to the actual game. So much more options in creating your Sim and family! I mean, they've even got like I don't know how many traits, but more than 20 to define your Sims. And with each trait your sims will react differently, and such. You can still get custom stuff on there too, which is pretty cool. And to the people that whine about how you can't go into the buildings, did you ever pause to think that the Sims Creators might come out with an expansion pack, that'll change that? It's probable, and it'll probably even happen. I saw it's totally worth getting. :] 06/22/2009
