The Phantom Of The Opera At The Royal Albert Hall (Blu-ray) (Widescreen) 5 5 4 4
Amazing Everything is better than the movie of a few years ago. Many of the voices in the movie are great, except the Phantom of course, but the 25th Anniversary is the actual stage play performed at the Royal Albert Hall and is perfect from start to finish. It's like being part of the audience but with perfect seats that are allowed on stage with the actors. Sarah Brightman, the original singer, appears after the show with Andrew Lloyd Webber and many, many from former casts to celebrate the 25 years of the show. But the great part is the live orchestra and the magnificent singers, dancers and stage presentation. Just fabulous! I doubt I can watch the movie after this! 03/19/2012
An Epic Phantom Tour de Force! This 25th Anniversary production of Phantom of the Opera is sensational. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sir Cameron Mackintosh picked two of the brightest and most talented Phantom stars to portray the Phantom (Ramin Karimloo) and Christine (Sierra Boggess). I've never been to a Broadway show before, so I had not yet witnessed performances by Ramin and Sierra. Ramin has played the Phantom and Sierra has played Christine before with others, but they were also together for one of Webber's Phantom sequel "Love Never Dies" productions (sadly not the one filmed for the upcoming release). Their acting and singing skills are absolutely phantastic! The interaction between Ramin and Sierra is theater magic! They form an emotional bond that is pervasive throughout the show; this bond and their individual talents combine for a thrilling, tear-jerking experience that you will remember for a long time. Mackintosh puts his own little spin on the ending which depicts how beautiful Christine is torn between her love for the hideous Phantom and the handsome Raoul. Which choice will she make? Are you a Phantom fan already? Or have you never seen the show? It doesn't matter. People worldwide are raving about this production, and rightly so. I can toss a hundred adjectives in this review, and still not do justice to this epic tour de force! The cast and orchestra are much larger than a typical Broadway production. This is unique, in that the cameras take you virtually on stage for close ups and different angles, so you don't miss a thing. Someone in the Royal Albert Hall audience, occupying the very best seat, would not have had the view you will enjoy. This Phantom show on Blu-Ray is definitely worth the price and has terrific replay value. I rewatch some of my favorite parts very often since they are spectacular and I don't tire of watching them. Don't have Blu-Ray? Then pick up the DVD. You will not be disappointed. This is glorious and very, very special. 04/09/2012
Great recording of the Broadway production. This is a great recording of the original Broadway production, not the movie. With a full orchestra and cast, it seemed like an opening night rather than an anniversary perfomance. The lead actor and actress were perfect in their roles and very talented vocally. This is a must have for any fan of the original theatrical production of Phantom. 04/30/2012
Oustanding A Must Have for any Phantom fan! 03/27/2012
