The stunning third and final novel in Stieg Larsson's internationally best-selling trilogy
Lisbeth Salander--the heart of Larsson's two previous novels--lies in critical condition, a bullet wound to her head, in the intensive care unit of a Swedish city hospital. She's fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she'll be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those in authority who have allowed the vulnerable, like herself, to suffer abuse and violence. And, on her own, she will plot revenge--against the man who tried to kill her, and the corrupt government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life.
Once upon a time, she was a victim. Now Salander is fighting back.

About the author

Biography of Larsson, Stieg

Prior to his sudden death of a heart attack in November 2004, Stieg Larsson finished three detective novels in his Millenium series. Before his career as a writer, Stieg Larsson was mostly known for his struggle against racism and right-wing extremism. In the middle of the 1980s he helped start the anti-violence project "Stop the Racism". This was followed by the founding of the Expo foundation in 1995. In 1999 he was appointed the chief editor of Expo, a magazine published by the organization.

Reviews

Review by Library Journal (2010-04-15)

The final installment in Larsson's "Millennium" trilogy, whose previous entries are also available from Books on Tape and Random Audio; simultaneous release with the Knopf Ac (500,000-copy first printing); Simon Vance reads.

Review by Library Journal (2010-09-15)

This final entry in Larsson's posthumously published "Millennium" trilogy follows the LJ Best Audio of 2009 The Girl Who Played with Fire, also available from Books on Tape/Random Audio. It features a critically wounded Lisbeth Salander working alongside friend and journalist Mikael Blomkvist to prove her innocence and plot her revenge, and it successfully pulls together all the earlier plot lines while also developing new narrative threads. Narrator Simon Vance (see Behind the Mike, LJ 11/15/08) handles the complex plot and diverse characters well, helping the story to move along quickly and additively. Highly recommended as an essential purchase to complete the series, all three of whose entries were LJ Best Sellers.

Rated 4.8 out of 5★ by 52reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great book Have been waiting for the third book in the Stieg Larsson Millinium series and was very happy to receive it. Not completely done reading it yet (2/3rds into it though) and it is just as exciting as the two other books.Only thing was that Fedex put it on my doorstep just before a major thunderstorm so the book was a little damaged from the rain. 06/18/2010
Rated 4 out of 5★ by As good as expected Obviously you aren't going to read this book unless you've read the previous two in the series so that's how I'm basing my review. I liked this book better than Dragon Tatoo but not as much as Played with Fire. It gives extra details that don't really enhance the story or prove too vital. The action and plot twists are pretty good and the book actually didn't end like I thought it would. Usually I can guess the end of a book or movie pretty easily but this had me guessing ever so slightly. There isn't as much action as the Played with Fire book, but over, I liked it and felt like the author stayed true to his characters. 12/03/2010
Rated 5 out of 5 Excellent I've read All three millenium saga books and they are great. I just couldn' stop reading. 02/12/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★ by The 3rd novel in this wonderful trilogy. Too bad the author has passed away and did not have the opportunity to finish what would have been a ten book series. 08/20/2010
