The BEST booster! Exceeds expectations! I got this for my daughter for her 4th B-day, as she is graduating from a 5pt harness car seat.This booster is amazing. Simply wonderful.The color is perfect for my little girl. She had her brother's hand-me-down car seat, and she is so happy to have a feminine princess big girl seat.It has TWO 'hidden' cup holders that slide out when needed. GREAT!The seatbelt guide is wonderful, as it is threaded through the side of the headrest, it is guided to lay FLAT across her shoulder and chest. This is a great feature.The headrest itself is constructed of soft yet durable foam. She loves to rest her head and sleep in her chair. She doesn't fall forward. I feel SAFE seeing her head is protected on the sides. Wonderful design.The adjustable back is the best feature by far. It is not just a headrest that goes up and down leaving a 'gap' right at the shoulders. The entire back adjusts up, fully supporting your child from head to rear. My 4 year old fits in it at the lowest setting. Just for comparison, I had my (tall) 7 year old sit in it, and I was able to adjust it up height appropriate for HIM as well! So I know I'll get 4 years of use out of this one seat! In fact, I am considering getting one for my 7 year old in a boy color. He is currently just using a back-less booster. And when I see my son and daughter in the car side by side in their two different booster seats, I realize how much more comfortable and PROTECTED my daughter looks.No, the back doesn't detach from the seat/base. And I don't think it matters! Why would you want to remove those safety features that add to the protection of your child?Overall, I am thrilled with this purchase. I am SO GLAD I bought it online (even sight unseen) after looking at SO MANY different models in the store. This one seemed to me to be the most comfortable, the most durable, and the safest by far. I would recommend this product to anyone.As a side note, please don't put your 2yo or 3 yo in a booster. Many parents get overly anxious and want to jump the gun and advance their children before it is safely their time. This is not wise. Consider their safety and be patient. 07/30/2009
Nice, but not 15.5" wide.... We ordered 2 of this type of Car seat as "site to store". We have a Civic, and need to fit 3 car seats in the back, so we are looking for very thin boosters. We were sold on this when we read it was 15.5"width. However, when we got it home, it was more like 18-19" wide. It's a very nice car seat if you want one that wide. We are very disappointed that we have to take them back... 01/13/2009
3yr old daughter loves it! My daughter just turned 3 and needed a new car seat. I decided to get her a high back booster. I searched the internet for several weeks. Checked all the stores and then came across this one. The reviews were great and although the price was a little higher than I wanted to spend, I thought that the additional safety features were worth it. It was all ready to go right out of the box! Loved that! My daughter loves it. It fits her really well on the lowest setting. It is light weight but very sturdy. I especially like that the back is tilted back just a little so she isn't witting straight up. This is an overall excellent product. I am very happy with it. 03/29/2009
A great product for long rides and cranky kids My two year old daughter, has to take frequent long car rides, and tends to be cranky because she is uncomfortable. With this new booster seat, she seems to be more continent and happy. It takes some of the frustration out of the long rides. I am very pleased with it, it is a little higher priced,but is definitely worth the money. 10/02/2009
