I've done every diet on the planet and I'm giving this 5;2 a try. I did my 1st day of fasting on Monday and found that it wasn't that bad at all. I ate breakfast around 11:30, drank lots of water and lemon tea all day. Then I ate my dinner around 6:15. When I woke up I expected to be starving but I wasn't. I was fine. I even went for a 4 mile walk before I ate breakfast. My husband is trying it out today and so far he is fine. I did weigh myself and lost 2 pounds. I fast again on Thursday but won't weigh myself again until next week. I found the book to be an easy read and helpful but for the most part it is common sense. I would recommend someone to buy this if they really wanted to try this lifestyle change as it gives good guidelines and when I feel hunger coming on I read a few pages until it passes which has actually helped me.

Great book. I have already lost 3 lbs & husband 6 lbs in just one week. The fasting was easy, do drink lots of water. 500 calories for dinner, more than we could eat. Fresh veggies,salad, grilled chicken. & tomorrow we get to eat whatever we want.

I recently saw an interview of the author, who is a Physician, marking the US release of the book discussing how you could lose weight by reducing caloric intake two days a week and eating your normal diet for the other five. Wanting more information I sought out the book. I don't "diet" and I don't read non-fiction or "How To" books. Ever. I am glad I purchased the book to get additional information. I have also never reviewed a book, but felt compelled to share my enthusiasm. This is a quick and easy read that outlines how fasting can help you lose pounds and improve your overall health. It gives examples of studies and testimonials of people who have tried the plan. There is also a color section featuring photos of typical "fasting" day meals and a handy calorie guide that I frequently reference on fasting days. It is written from an English (as in across the Pond) perspective so be prepared to do some easy conversions when referencing weight, etc. I am a Registered Nurse so the medical jargon was familiar to me, but I feel that most people will be comfortable with the topics and health information that are discussed in the book. Before the book arrived I started the program based on information online. It arrived a week later and I read it in a couple of sittings. I have been following the plan for three weeks without difficulty and the book has been a great guide and inspiration. I stick to the 500 calorie rule, but I'm unable to do the true fasting timeframe yet in order to reap all of the benefits beyond weight loss. (Men get an extra 100 calories on fast days) I feel that I have lost around 4 pounds so far. I hadn't been on a scale in over a year and was too afraid to weigh until the third week, so this is an estimation. My clothes certainly fit better. I have a goal now and feel that the book and program will help me reach it. Best of luck to you who choose to do the same!
