Instead of using all the measuring cups and spoons in my house everyday I can measure all the food in the bowl or on the plate that I eat from. Example: I put my cereal bowl on the scale then zero out, add 1 cup (28 grams) of corn flakes, zero out, 1/2 cup (70 gr.) of blueberries, zero out, 1/2 cup (120 gr.) of skim milk and enjoy my breakfast of 180 calories. If you want to add sugar you just zero out and let the scale count the grams for you. It also counts the ounces if you prefer. With only two buttons to operate this food scale is very easy. I have only had this scale two weeks so I couldn't tell you how durable it is. The appearance is nice.

Essential, accurate for bread machine baking

The best way to make home made bread in a bread machine is to weigh the flour, not measure it by volume in measuring cups. This scale is easy to use and accurate. One cup of flour measured by volume equals 5 ounces per cup by weight. I turn on the scale, place an empty light bowl on the glass surface to weigh it. Then I push the "Tare" button, and the scale reverts to zero weight, discounting the bowl's weight, and ready to weigh what I put in the bowl. I then scoop flour in the bowl until the weight is 5 ounces for 1 cup flour; 1/2 cup of flour weighs 2.5 ounces and so on. Your bread machine bread will bake high, and just right because you measured flour accurately by weight.

I really love this product, I have recently joined Weight Watchers, and needed a scale for greater compliance to the nutrition plan, I choose this scale because it offered almost the same quality and features as the Weight Watchers one, but at a much affordable price.

I have to measure milk accurately within one tenth of a pound. Will this scale do this? I would assume that I could put a bowl on the scale and put the milk in that.

    • A. I would say yes. All you would have to do it put your glass or baby bottle on the scale before you turn it on. Then when you turn the scale on it will zero out the weight of your container. Just pour your milk till you get to the desired weight.

    • A. Yes, the scale will accurately weigh in 0.1 ounce and 1 gram increments. The scale features a "tare" operation which will allow you to place a bowl on the scale, press a button and it resets to zero. You can then add the milk and the scale will weigh only the milk and not the bowl. It is very easy to use.

    • A. Turn scale on. Place bowl on glass plate- scale weighs bowl - press "Tare" button, scale discounts bowl's weight - it is now ready to weigh anything you place in the bowl. It measures up to 6.6 lb in 0.1 ounce increments.

    • A. It will weigh the weight of any liquid just tare the container and pour it in. You will need to look up the weight to volume conversions for each specific liquid as the weight of different ingredients vary by volume. 1/2 cup of milk weighs less than 1/2 cup of cream for example.

I sometimes include little notes or gift cards in my greeting cards and need to make sure I get enough postage on the envelope. It has been very helpful in that aspect. I hope I was able to help you.

What ever I stacked onto this scale I moved over to the postal scale and it was exactly the same. I tested about 5 different wieghts from 1/10 of an oz. on up to 1lb 9 oz, no need to go further. The only thing I noticed was the postal scale had charts built onto it.
