    Good for memory foam mattresses

I thought this mattress pad was too thin to be absorbent/resistant or to withstand the washer and dryer- until I got the allerease one that was an actual pad and shredded it's first time in the washer. I must have had this terry protector for a year now because I can't find it in my order history but it's held up to half a bottle of water spilled and tons of washings. Most importantly, if you have a memory foam mattress, this is the protector for you! The mattress "pad"ing of the other one totally negated the effect of the memory foam, it was hard and uncomfortable. This terry protector conforms to the memory foam, being so thin is what makes it work. If I can help it I'm never getting a protector with padding again! If you have a hard mattress, feel free to use those, I'll stick with my squishy foam :) Plus the side skirt or whatever stretches really far for my 12" mattress. It may not have been good for the woman with toddlers, but it's apparently just what I needed to work with what I've got.

The plastic water-proofing layer is thin but so far hasn't torn. It also holds your body heat. You don't realize how breathable your sheets are until you have this protector on it. I have very high thread count sheets and they never burnt me up like this protector. If you sleep nude you definately don't want this. I sleep clothed but if i sit on the bed with shorts, wherever my bare skin lays, it gets hot and sweats. Just put a trashbag under the sheet and if you can tolerate it then this might be the product for you. I still have mine on the bed because i bought new matresses and want to preserve them as long as i can ( don't want any drink spills on it). The protector doesn't make a rattling sound and so far doesn't come off the bed (i have the deep matress). Like i said, if the heat thing doesnt bother you then it does it's job fine. I bought two, one for each new matress set. After sleeping on this one i returned the other one unopened for a refund. I'll find something better for that one.

I read a few reviews that said this is not waterproof. But because of the good reviews and not wanting to pay an arm and a leg for the mattress store one I bout it and put it to the test. I put the waterproof cover on an extra bed I had where any water leakage would be highly visible on the comforter below {because of the comforter material}. I poured 5 cups of water onto the cover. At first it pooled, then it soaked in. I though Great it went through, nope it sucked up into the terry cloth and did not leak at all onto the bed. I then added more water and put a few heavy objects on it to simulate someone laying on it (um like a potty training toddler). I went back an hour later and no leaks, two more hours and no leaks and the cover was dry! I then washed and dried it per the instructions and did the water and pressure test again, it passed with flying colors, no leaks not even a drop. I will buy more of these and test them all before I use them. maybe I was lucky and got a good one and others god lemons. I am super happy with the product!

I have a King-sized bed, which has been unprotected now for several months due to my inability of having found a decent and affordable mattress protector. I had been using an inexpensive vinyl protector that was purchased at a reputable bed and bath chain store for months and months, but after having been told numerous times by my husband that it felt like he was sleeping on a garbage bag, I decided it was time to remove it and look for a new one. Needless to say the old one crinkled with every toss and turn under the sheets and made sleeping uncomfortable. I had looked everywhere, including online at home shopping network sites, and found the prices to be astronomical at every place I searched. I finally found this one and it is GREAT. Our bed is a pillow-top mattresss style and this mattress protector does a wonderful job of covering the entire mattress completely, with even room to sprare. It is soft to the touch and feels amazing. No more crinkly noises! One cannot beat the price, the quality, and the function of this protector. I highly recommend it!

Worked Great For First 8 Months
    5/26/2015

I bought this mattress protector to protect a brand new mattress from my toddler who was still occasionally having accidents. It worked great for the first 8 months we used it. This mattress protector did a great job of keeping the mattress dry (as long as the accident was on top of the mattress). The mattress got wet once when my daughter had an accident near the edge of the bed and it ran down the side, however that would probably happen with most mattress protectors. I only gave the product 3 stars because last night, this mattress protector let me down. My daughter had an accident and it leaked all the way through to the mattress. I think it just wore out due to repeated cleanings. Even without accidents, mattress protectors should be cleaned occasionally so I was disappointed with the durability of this product. I will continue using this product in the spare bedroom, which is rarely used, but will spend a little more for a new one in my daughter's room. Here's hoping the new one lasts longer!

Very much "alike" other more expensive out there. Very good materials used for this item. Coverage for the whole mattress from corner to corner. Wraps around the mattress and tucks right under preventing it from moving when laying on the bed. The terry cloth material used is not very dense as other more expensive ones out there but still serves its purpose of beeding liquids and not allowing them to penetrate. The vinil like backing is of very good quality and very flexible. All seams are double stiched and very well put together for many years of use. It will pay for itself the first time an "accident" happens. Very confortable to sleep and not noisy or hot at all. Machine washable and very easy to dry as well. I will definitely recomend this product just wished the terry cloth material would be thicker but overall for the price is a very economic protection for your mattress.

When I got my old mattress 9 years ago I bought a similar mattress protector with it & when I got my new bed for Christmas my old mattress still looked like new. So of course I ordered this mattress protector for my new bed. I chose the site to store option for free shipping, it came quickly & picking up was as easy as showing my ID. I washed the mattress protector before I put it on my bed & it held up perfectly in the washer, on hot, with bleach & came out of the dryer fine too. I finally got to test it earlier this week when I got my SIX wisdom teeth pulled. In my post-op sleep I missed the towel my mom put on my pillow & woke up with a pool of bloody drool on my sheets. I sprayed some stain remover on the spot & thew the protector in the washer. It came out good as new & my mattress was untouched. A lot of other reviews were saying that this protector doesn't stay in place but although it has a lot of extra room, it holds tight to my pillow top mattress & didn't budge through my bf and my "wild sleeping". I also like that this mattress protector didn't retain body heat & make me sweat like others that I've tried. I have absolutely no complaints about this mattress protector. BUY IT!!!!

Thin layer of terry cloth pressed to a waterproof liner protects top of mattress. Stretchy material covers sides to snit snugly to mattress. No sound when moving. It's a bit thin, but efficient to do the job of protecting the mattress from spills and somewhat providing protection from dust mites while sleeping.

I wouldn't exactly describe this mattress protector as water proof; water resistant would be more accurate. This particular product may protect from small spills that are cleaned immediately, but it is no match for the bladder of a potty-training toddler. I would not recommend this to anyone who is considering using it on a child's bed.

    • A. I have purchased 3 of these products. The first was in 2007/8 and it has worked perfectly. Now I bought another for my second son who is potty training. We bought the same item, but in 2009. This product is no longer waterproof. We thought that the second one might have been defective since the leaking grape juice sippy went all the way down to the mattress. So I bought another new one. A stomach virus and 2 dirty diapers later confirms that this product is no longer waterproof and has ruined our new white mattress. DO NOT BUY!

I'm just wondering if this is like a matress pad that covers just the top and around the edges, or is it like a bag that the whole bed can fit in? We have dogs and they ended up bringing fleas home from a pet store we took them to for training. We've been battling them for a couple weeks now, and have tried everything. I think we finally have it under control, but would like to add some extra protection. We are looking for something to put on around the bed so that if there are any fleas in the mattress, it will keep those in and they will die off, and keep any others out.

    • A. The top of the pad protects the mattress and it fits on the mattress like a fitted sheet. If it would keep the fleas out and or under the pad until dead. I have no answer for that. Our dogs sleep on the floor next to the bed and we give them flea control pills prescribed by the Vet. Good luck and enjoy your pet/s. Oh, the parts on the sides and bottom of the pad are of a stretchy knit not terry like the top.

    • A. Yikes! First, to answer your question, these terry cloth mattress protectors do not form a total, containing bag around the mattress. Instead, they fit over the corners, similar to a fitted bottom sheet. Second, as a dog owner, may I suggest that (A) You use Frontline Plus along your dog's back once a month and (B) That you either discard or have fumigated your mattresses!

It will fit nicely under your mattress pad if you wish so it really does not need a zipper (unless you have pets under the bed and need to protect the bottom).
