I love my new bathroom scale. It's big and easy to read. It's also sturdy, so my children won't break it. And, it reads my weight accurately.

Bought this scale for my elderly father who needs to weigh regularly due to fluid build up from congestive heart failure. He was unable to stand steadily enough to use the smaller, digital ones. He is able to use this one. My only complaint is that it doesn't automatically reset itself to zero every time, but it is easy to set this manually. My father is pleased with this scale, and it was recommended to us originally by his home health nurse.

i have used more expensive and fancy scales that also used batteries and gave different weight each time you step on it, in other words, inaccurate weight, but this basic scale is very accurate all the time and doesn't need any batteries. it's simple and beautiful and i love it.

I bought this scale because I wanted the larger numbers and I have seen this style scale in doctor's offices. The reviews were better than for similar cheaper models. When I stepped on the scale for the first time, I instantly had lost 8 pounds (I guess this answers why the good reviews). I also use Wii Fit Plus to track my weight (takes some time) and I had the scale this Taylor scale was replacing. I also weigh myself on a professional balance type scale available at work. In all cases, the new Taylor scale is consistently 7-8 lbs off. Also, as the directions say, step on and off the scale and adjust the dial so that the needle is on Zero. The trouble is, that every time you step on and off the scale, the needle goes to a different spot around Zero, but not the same place. Therefore, every time I step on the scale, I get a different weight. Buy another scale!!!

I purchased a scale like this 5 or 6 years ago (different brand) and the issue was that after a few months of use it no longer reset to zero when you got off. Each time I would weight, I would have to adjust the scale from something like 347 or 348 to the zero setting. The capacity was 350 and instead of going back to zero, it would be over into the scale's end capacity. It was accurate, but very annoying and I ended up giving it away for that reason. I don't want to go analog again if I will end up with the same issue.

    • A. Sometimes it resets to zero and sometimes it doesn't. However I do find it to be accurate. Personally I haven't seen a pair of home scales yet that consistently sets back on zero whether they are mechanical, spring, digital, etc.

    • A. Yes it has a dial for adjusting it back to zero. I adjusted mine when I first recieved it and 2 months later I still have not had to fuss with it. This is turning out to be a quality buy for half the price. I highly recommend this scale to anyone. Plus I weigh about 340 and it just keeps on ticking.

    • A. I grew up with this type scale in the early 1950's. Resetting was common. However, if the "no weight" reading was consistent, just add or subtract the reading. If it was 2 pounds, subtract two pounds from your weight reading. If it was 347, just add 3 pounds.

    • A. no, it does not appear to be able to self-calibrate. it has a dial at the bottom of the thing, and i reset it to zero every time i use it, because it likes to move.

    • A. I always check and make sure it's at zero. I haven't had it long enough to check to see if it doesn't reset back to zero. but for a quick twist of the but to put into zero it's not to bad.

    • A. No - there is a thumbwheel adjuster to set the dial to zero or as close to zero as you can. The one I returned had to be set below zero to end up showing the weight (dumbells) correctly.
