    Ignored the bad reviews/took a chance/happy

So far so good. I was worried reading all the negative reviews but I guess there is always the chance that SOMEone will get a unit that may be defective. Mine seems to be working fine. I don't find that it throws off too much heat as some have reported. Of course, the initial instruction calling for three consecutive cycles to be run at the highest level 8, caused a lot of heat but that's no surprise. Toasting rye, sliced italian and white bread went as expected at about the 2 or 3 setting depending upon how dark you want it. I don't understand all the comments about uneven toast....I've been toasting bread for MANY years and NEVER recall a perfectly even piece of toast!! It's toast......buy it....it's really attractive...mine works fine and I hope it continues to do so. And yes, the bagel setting DOES work properly..you just have to be sure you've placed it in the slots with the inside facing in. The blue light isn't annoying as some have said and it turns off anyway after a few minutes. Take a chance..I don't think you'll be sorry.

    I love this Toaster

    Customer review by slyfrog50

Our old toaster wouldn't stay down on the first try and I had to bend or cut the rye bread to fit. I love the new T-fal 4-slice toaster. Because there are two long slots I can easily put four slices of regular bread or two split English muffins in at once. Each slot is 1-3/8" x 10", information that is hard to find on any toaster unless found on someone else's review. The toast setting choices are great, we use 4 for regular bread and 6 for English muffins. The blue setting and timer display is also great and lets you know at what point in the cycle your toast is. The display starts with a full set of blue bars and the number of bars declines to none with a quiet tone that signifies the toast has popped. This toaster is faster and better than our older ones did. Only wish the cord was slightly longer but I am able to keep the toaster completely in front of the cabinets so the heat does not end up being directly under any cabinets.

I am a grandmother and have had many toasters in my lifetime. This is by far the best. You can put in thick slices, long slices, bagels come out perfect. I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THIS PURCHASE.

just got this toaster, tried it several times and it only toasts the bread on one side, no matter what slot bread is placed in or the setting for toast.

    • Sound like you got a broken one. I can confirm it's supposed to toast both sides. I would return for refund.

    • I don't have that problem with my toaster - it toasts evenly on all slices. I did read, however, that another person had that problem.

    • Wonder if you just got a defective toaster? Mine toasts on both sides without difficulty.

    • The only reason I can think of that you are having this problem, is that you are using the bagel setting. All it does, is warmer the outside of the bagel (bread). While it toasts the inside of the bagel/bread.

    • Toasts on both sides, if it is working properly. Heating element on one side is probably not connected, if it is toasting only on one side.

    • you might have it set on the bagel setting because it only heats up on one side so as not to burn the top of the bagel.

    • The button that you use to push down the toast does lift the bread a little higher. I don't think you would need to enter the toaster.

    • Yes, it has the high-lift position built into the lever so while its on after toast pops up you simply lift it higher to take bread or whatever out. Its nice!

    • Yes. Depending on the height of what your toasting it can be difficult sometimes to get it out without some help. You can buy wooden tongs made specifically for pulling toast out of your toaster.

    • Yes. The lever to drop the toast also raises, by hand, about an inch or two so the top of the toast is easily accessible without using utensils.

    • It does not have a single slice option like most regular toasters. Both sides go down during the toasting and all sides inside the machine light up.

    • all the elements heat the same no matter where the bread is.
      by Kathleen71211/21/2014
Was this answer helpful? (1) (0)
    • Each long slot has heating elements on both sides and it doesn't know how many slices you put in, so the whole thing heats up, even if there's nothing in it. If you push the bagel button the inner elements heat up more to toast the cut sides, but other than that it's the whole thing.
