Great product for homeowners I have had the four camera system connected for over a month and it has performed beyond my expectation. The hardest part of the install is running the wires to each camera (50 foot cables provided). The connection of the cables to the dvr and cameras is very simple. and the whole system is plug and play. It has a good software program that loaded and installed with very little interaction required. I have video out to my 50 inch plasma TV and is connected via my router to my PC. It records the views from all four cameras all the time for about 20 days before it writes over the oldest recordings. Camera picture quality is good, even for low light. The infrared at night is good at close range ( 15 feet or less). For the price, this is a very good, reliable system that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a camera security system for their home or condo. 06/18/2010
The dvr was not completely assembled opened the box and the hard drive was clanking around in side the dvr chassis. Looked though the vents only one screw had been put in and not tightened the bracket it was hanging from was bent as the hard drive was just bouncing around in shipping.Picture quality was poor.Kit says its accessible via iPhone with app download. Even after i had it on the network i could not get my iPhone to connect.Unable to use at all on a mac, as it requires ActiveXUnable to use on a PC as ActiveX browser would not allow me to install it no matter what security functions I turned off.Called swann to see if they could help with all these problems was met with a recording that then put me on hold for several minutes. after that put me to a answering machine to leave a message.at this point i packed it back up in the box and returned it to the store. 04/30/2011
Horrible Security System It took me about 3 hours to install & 2 hours to setup the DVR so that I could view over the Internet. The manual book and video tutorial on the Swann website did not give the correct information. So I did it my way and it worked the first time. I used the CD that came with it and it downloaded a Trojan virus (TrojWare.Win32.TrojanDownloaded.Agent.focs@158798800 C:\ProgramFiles(x86)Netviewer\is-SVMOV.Tmp)to my computer but my Comodo stopped it. Netviewer is the software which is on the CD for you to use with the DVR but it crashed a lot doing playback.The image is very poor in day time & night time. All cameras records however it feels like it. A car pulled into the driveway and the camera stops recording. I tried out the motion detector and it recorded bugs flying around the cameras. The night vision is terrible. You cannot get a clear image of people unless they stand 8 feet away from the camera anything else past that and then it is blurry. The Zoom feature is terrible too because it is digital zoom not optical which means that it just zooms in on the image without focus and when I used the zoom you cannot see anything. Where the camera mounts to the wall stands are not great and even when I turn the knob to tighten it down it is still ver loose and will not stay in the correct postion that I place them in.These cameras had 420 lines so if you want a good quality image then you need 600 lines or higher and spend around $1,500.00 because you will get what you pay for.I was going to upload some images and video but I forgot too and I already have taken down the system and am packing it back up to send back to the store. 03/19/2011
Amazing System for the Price Installation was easy. Video quality is great. Users manual didn't provide much support for online access, butif you're tech savvy you shouldn't have too much trouble. Otherwise, the system was great. Much more than I expected for the price. 04/26/2011
