with an antenna, this box will let you watch the local over the air channels in HD which are much better than the cable or satellite. The over the air signal gives you the whole signal while cable or satellite shrinks the signal to be able to put more data through at the same time.

I have flat screen tv, but direct TV box is ordinary without hd, can I watch HD on my tv if,I buy this convertor, does it change front non HD to HD

The HDMI out connection is for a one cable option for sound and 1080p video to your HD TV instead of using the RCA cables.

The HDMI output is if you want to use it with a new hdtv. The tv has it&#39;s own tuner but adding a box to it will give you the ability to watch one channel while taping on another channel.

why do I need a HDMI out on this converter box

Yes if I understand the question. - Your tv does not have a coax antenna input but does have the RCA red/white/yellow inputs? Your antenna coax would go to the box and then the RCA plugs to the tv input and you are good to go. this will work

i have a projector tv with no way to accept coax cable for indoor antenna...can i hook inside coax cable to this box and then to tv for local channels

You need a Booster/ Amplifier or you wont get any stations

this is the most nice converter box I ever bought it is a beauty u can record ur favorite shows and watch them later on a flash stick and all the channel came in clearly with no problem its worth every penny and I got it for a good price.

This would be the first converter box I have bought so far to date. Using it on an older HD tv/computer monitor.  Unlike the reviewer, Shawn, who blames the converter, I have a tad bit more knowledge, living in a low-laying area surrounded by trees in a rural area. Antenna placement and  type of antenna help with the range and the amount of channels you can receive; not the converter box itself. If using an indoor antenna, stick it near a window. The quality of signal to the antenna improves.

With that said, the device has 2 RF (coaxial cable) connections, 1 in from antenna and 1 out to device/tv; 1 UHF coax RCA-type in, for radio; 1 hdmi out, 1 set RCA a/v component out (supports 3 RCA up to 6 RCA).

Has a USB port in the front for recording tv shows as well as view multimedia (warning tho, it does not support all partition formats).

Gave this 4 stars as the unit is sluggish to respond to the remote. It can take a second or two for it to register that you hit a button on the remote.

The clock settings continue to revert to a different time zone so I am unable to set the recorder to auto record, the only good this DVR is good for is as a receiver to watch TV otherwise it's useless!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT UNLESS YOU LIVE ON THE WEST COAST TO MATCH THE TIME ZONE IT REVERTS BACK TO!

IF IT WERE FREE IT WOULD BE TO EXPENSIVE!
