Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great tool for a tough removal My old tub drain of 11 years with the clorine in our water really corroded badly. I tried a convention dog bone tool first to remove it but it snapped off the cross piece on the tub drain and didn't move it at all. I bought this and with a little effort I was able to remove the old drain. It was well worth the price of tool. Much cheaper than a plumbers service call. 06/14/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by It works as advertised It is worth the high price. If you have a problem, get this tool rather than budgeting up your tub 08/08/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great tool If you are going to remove a drain this is the tool you need and at a cheap price. I used other ones out there that grabbed the cross T at the bottom of the drain and it just broke the metal on the drain. This worked great. 03/04/2014
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Works, but be patient. May need to try a few times I tried several times but could not get the thing to stop slipping when I turned it. In the end I used the claw end of a hammer to pry it against the side of the drain and turn it loose. So, the drain key loosened the drain and the hammer turned it out. Watch video. 04/27/2014
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great product. Saved me a $200.00 plumbing call. Was easy to install and I was able to remove the old drain quickly with minimal effort. 02/11/2014
Rated 2 out of 5★ by Did not fit my drain The tool has two diameters. The larger diameter seems to be for a 1.5 in ID drain. This section of the tool is much larger than the other one. The second one is considerably smaller in diameter and length. To my great dismay I found out that my tub drain was slightly smaller than 1.5 inch. Thus, the larger grip did not fit in the opening. I tried placing the small section in the drain but the design did not allow for an effective grip. Bottom line: I could not get the drain out with this tool. I assume that if my drain were a bit larger then the tool would have worked out as intended but there is no way for me to prove that theory.CAUTION: Measure your drain ID before you buy this tool. The tool is likely to work if your drain has a diameter that is at least 1.5 inches. 05/16/2014
Rated 5 out of 5★ by This is a money saver! If you have an old tub drain in which the flange is missing the crosspieces (for whatever reason, broken, just old, etc.) this is the tool you need. My tub was probably 50 years old, maybe more and the flange never had cross pieces. The gasket between the tub and drain pipe was worn out and leaking badly! Using the tool probably saved me 1/2 a day and related costs to cut the wall, cut out the pipe and then remove the tub altogether, because there was no access to the tub from below due to some idiot installing the furnace in the basement directly below the bathtub! Anyhow, the only thing I would note is that you don't want to tighten the tool in the drain too tight. I really cranked my tight, and after I got the flange out (which came out easily) I couldn't get the tool out of the flange and had to cut the old flange off with a hacksaw. Also, you may have to tab the tool lighly on the top with a wrench or hammer to get it fully into the drain hole to start. Walmart's $26 price was the lowest I saw anywhere on the Internet, as most other places wanted $45 or more. 06/08/2014
Rated 1 out of 5★ by Superior????????? I've spent 1 1/2 hours so far with this tool and the drain is still firmly in place! 04/22/2013
