Very good for my small coffee business This product has performed exemplarly for me and I like that I don't have to go for ice to offer iced drinks for my small business.Let me explain why I bought this machine, versus a larger machine. First is cost. I needed something that would produce a fair amount of ice, but not break my small budget. Second, I needed something portable because I need ice wherever I go, and there's not an ice machine at most of the places I sell coffee, so I needed to bring my own ice. In order to do that, I would normally have to buy A LOT of bagged ice, and that gets expensive really quick. I needed a better solution that would end up saving me more money than I would spend, so I decided to get a portable unit. Third, I cannot plumb in any of my equipment, so, that means that everything I use, needs to be portable. Lastly, I don't sell to a lot of customers, as they are in an office that I serve, so I didn't have a need for a much larger machine.The reason I bought this unit, is because I needed enough production to grow in the future, and the other machines weren't quite adequate as far as the amount of ice they would produce. I also didn't need all the bells and whistles that the more expensive machine had, and this was the best fit for me. Also, the Walmart.com price was the best, and they have local stores so if I did have a problem, I could take it back.So, how does this machine perform??It more than does the job for what I need it for. the only drawbacks are that when the ice bin gets full and the "full ice" light comes on, I have to seat the bin after it's empty a couple to a few times to get it to reset. I don't run it out of water, as to save the pump, so I don't know what the low water light is going to do if I go to reset it. I like the weight of this unit. It is heavy enough to stay put on the counter and not have someone run away with it. I also like it's solid construction, though the fit and finish is not the best, (there are some panels that don't fit together quite right and it leaves a not so clean seam...)In conclusion, this unit should be more than adequate for the home user, just don't expect lexus style fit and finish, and make sure the bin is empty and well seated. :-)Vernon 05/11/2011
fantastic ice machine-- we LOVE it! I purchased this for my very picky father for his birthday and i've never heard him rave about how happy he was with an appliance in my life!(until now) since our family does a LOT of entertaining and spends a ton of family time in our backyard pool & lounge area BBQ'ing or just hanging out, my dad likes to keep all of the beverages (soda, beers, kids drinks, etc) in a large cooler in the backyard. after years of running out to the ice store daily, i finally decided to get him this... and it works beautifully! more ice than we need for the cooler, and still more than enough for drink glasses. in response to the person who returned their ice maker due to the taste of the ice.... well, we ran our first few batches of ice with fresh squeezed lemon juice added and that "new plasticy" taste completely disappeared.(you should've been more patient, because this is a wonderful machine) i am not the type of person who normally writes reviews for products, but i couldn't help being impressed with this one. i highly recommend this one if you're in the market for an ice maker. 06/15/2010
Great Purchase This icemaker really cranks out the ice FAST! We bought this for our camper because we were tired of buying bags of ice every other day when we travel. This little machine will save us a lot of money when we go camping. We ran a few cycles with vinegar and it eliminated the "new" taste. I love the 3 sizes of cubes. What a great buy! Don't hesitate on this one! Don't listen to the negative reviews, they probably didn't read the instructions!! 12/27/2010
