About this item

This Evaporative Air Cooler Humidifier Air Filtration and Fan with Ionizer is versatile and an economical way to cool and humidify the surrounding air- Designed with micro-computer control system this unit can lower surrounding temperature and humidify the air through the principal of water evaporation- The Cooler easily rolls from room to room with lockable casters- This Air Cooler shoots a stream of air with oscillating louvers to evenly distribute refreshing cool air- Can also be used as a fan or humidifier if temperature is not an issue- The remote control allows you to easily change settings- The Air Cooler works by endothermic reaction (a reaction that consumes heat) so this evaporative Air Cooler sucks air through a wick saturated with water- As the air flows through the wick some of the water evaporates into the air consuming the heat that was in the air- An air stream is then blown out the front of the unit and is considerably cooler than the current room temperature! This is not an air conditioner and therefore uses much less energy- Note: The unit works well in dry climates; not very effective in areas with high humidity as the unit utilizes water to cool- Features and Functions Computer-controlled system with LED panel Fan Cool Humidifier Air Filtration and Ionizer Double-layered filtration mesh water curtain Remote control Washable filter SKU: SUNP100

I purchased this unit in the hopes it could cool but a single room in my small home. It did a fair job the first day, keeping the temperature down perhaps 5-10 degrees Fahrenheit below the outdoors. However, when I walked by the unit after it had been running for perhaps 5-6 hours, the carpeting around it was sopping wet. I purchased a plastic tray to put under it, about 18x24x1 inches, but still had to empty it at least once every 5-6 hours of operation. This just was not worth the minimal cooling, so I returned it. Most definitely not worth the cost or hassle.

It may look good, but this unit does not cool at all. The fan is underpowered and you cannot feel it if you are more than a few feet away. My unit is going back this week!

This item was a disappointment as far as the "cooling" part is concerned. Used in a room approx 10x12 and didn't make too much difference in the room temp (as displayed on the unit itself). The fan works fine (good) and I like the fact it displays the temp. other than that it did not do what I needed it to do, which is "cool" the air in the room.

Its not just worth the money you pay for this product. I bought this unit thinking it will cool down my house but only the fan works. You have to be putting water in the equipment for it to 'cool' but it never did. I shipped it back the first night. Not worth your time and efforts.

Any rating giving less than a 4 star is probably worth tossing out. I would venture to guess all the negative reviews are from people who did not care to read what the product actually does. This item clearly states it is an evaporator (Think of this thing as a small swamp cooler) and the manufacturer clearly states what it can be expected to do. That is: lower a personal space/area around 10-12 degrees, not for use in high humidity areas, uses little electricity, has a timer/sleep mode, moving louvers and a dust/lint guard. All of those things, it does to a "T". If you want to lower your temp +25 degrees, you will need to go spend 300-400 bucks on a compressor/refrigerator system.

  • A. No. It is on wheels and can be moved from room to room. It can cool without using ice. The fan is very strong. If you do use the ice, you empty it yourself.

  • A. Yes!!! The reason evaporative coolers like this one get bad reviews is because they are not used properly. They must be used with a window kit to be effective (of which there is none available for this unit). It must draw in low humidity air from outside and cool it through evaporation of water. The ice pack concept is flawed because your freezer pumps the heat out of the water and into the surrounding room when you make ice. There is also additional heat produce by inefficiencies in this process. It's like trying to cool your house by leaving your freezer door open. It's not going to work, I promise you this. :oP If you already bought this unit, try making a duct and shroud to draw air from outside directly into the intake, or place the unit in a partially open door. This may help. Do not waste your time with the ice pack.

  • A. Evaporative coolers do not need to be placed in a window. You should leave the window partially open to allow some of the moisture to exit the room. Evaporative coolers are also known as swamp coolers. Without an open window, it will get very humid.

Hi-we will have 2 older window units (for now) but what really creates the "heat/hot"element is the humidity here in NE Florida (well, ALL of Florida)-so does this help or not?(Air cooler unit, et al..) we need to save money right now or else would get a portable AC unit-but would like to address the humidity issue..

  • A. Personally, I would not recommend this item for a humid climate as it does require water for the cooling unit to work. Being that I live in AZ, it is ideal for my situation. Living in FL, maybe you would be better off to purchase a de-humidifier.

  • A. No. Swamp coolers (tempting to think literally, I know... lol) add moisture to the air, giving it a cooler feel. Think of getting out of the shower and standing in front of a big fan, dripping wet... it will make you feel chilled) "This unit is best used in dry climates or open spaces. Leave window/door open when temperature or humidity rises in the room. Add as much ice as possible and set unit next to you for best effect."

  • A. NO! This is what is considered a "swamp cooler" - it puts out humidity. It will not work for you.

  • A. this unit humidifies the air through the principle of water evaporation and the melting ice. It has not been that hot that I have to use the ice feature as yet. I am usually stationary and have it placed about 10 feet from me. This is good for one room only.

  • A. Sorry, it does the exact opposite. It ADDS humidity. You need a real AC unit, not an air cooler. I also have a de-humidifier. The problem with such units is that it also heats the air somewhat. I lived in Florida (South-East Florida) and, unfortunately, nothing but a real AC unit will do, because hot, humid air has a lot of energy, and that needs to be taken out. Even tap water is hot at times :)

  • A. 30% humidity is rather high here, in NM where swamp coolers are commonly used, as whole house systems. May and June humidities have been in the single digits to mid-teens at the highest. IMHO, it would probably have little effect, unless you were sitting within a few feet of the unit. If that is what you want it for (next to work desk or favorite chair), it may work just fine for you. So might a wet towel around your neck and a fan. Don't expect it to cool a large room.

  • A. This will not be effective in a humid climate because it's just putting more humidity into the air and the water will just hang around and heat up again. In drier climates, the humidity dissipates so that the fan can put more cool air into the room. It will only work as a fan for you.
